FaZe advance to semis, OpTic & Gambit to quarter-finals

The last round of Group B saw FaZe grabbing first place and a spot in the semi-finals following a confident win over Liquid, while Gambit and OpTic defeated Renegades and G2, respectively, to advance to quarter-finals.

Gambit secured the first three rounds as Terrorists on Inferno, while Renegades came out on top of the first two full buys. The Kazakh team didn't allow Noah "Nifty" Francis's team to rack up more, however, locking down the first half 12-3 with every one of their players contributing well.

Renegades replied with a pistol round as well as the first two gunrounds to go on a streak of six rounds, closing the gap to 9-12. That was all they could do, however, as Mihail "Dosia" Stolyarov's 1v1 clutch broke the streak and Gambit ran away with the match 16-9.

Håvard "rain" Nygaard's quad-kill in the first pistol round sent FaZe to a 5-0 start on the T side of Inferno, and the European mixture continued to dominate the first portion of the half before it was 8-1. Liquid then slowly recovered and, much thanks to Jonathan "EliGE" Jablonowski's triple with a CZ-75 along the way, secured four out of the remaining six rounds.

FaZe move on to semis with four wins in the round-robin

Nikola "NiKo" Kovač's triple allowed FaZe to edge closer to victory as they went up 13-5, while rain's three kills in a 3v3 secured match point for his team at 15-5. Finn "karrigan" Andersen's team clinched the 16-5 victory shortly and picked up first place in the group with a total of four wins in five matches.

OpTic started their match against G2 on Overpass with a 6-0 lead on the offense, but their opponents managed to go on two separate streaks to give themselves a chance going into their own T side with six rounds to their name at halftime.

Richard "shox" Papillon and Alexandre "bodyy" Pianaro combined for five in the second pistol round, helping their team equalize the scoreline at 9 all and even reach their first lead in the match in the next round. The tables turned again once OpTic surprised the French squad with only pistols and capitalized on it with five rounds in a row.

bodyy's heroics saved G2's chances for the time being, but Emil "Magisk" Reif's solo triple in bathrooms in the following round gave his team match point at 15-11. A scrappy buy which included two pistols then worked out for G2 as bodyy continued to impress, this time with a 1v2 clutch. That allowed G2 to claw back to 14-15, but Aleksi "allu" Jalli's triple in the last round gave OpTic the much-needed win to advance to playoffs.

I know they play great cs, but the stupid forces sometimes make them lose matches also a big problem for G2 is shox the star player isn't showing up like he should.

Nah that ain't happening, the possible change that G2 might do is remove bodyy for KioShiMa or Ex6tenZ but the problem with Ex6 is that they want to keep a full french team.

and btw who came up with that bullshit of a "full french team" everyone keeps saying it but there is literally no evidence that they give a shit about nationality! edit: why would nationality matter?

Why are people saying -bodyy +ScreaM, skillwise isn't always a solution bodyy is a support on that team and I don't think ScreaM can fit that role since he's a star player.

What are sou talking about if faze lost 16:14 it would change nothing in this case gambit would still have one more point (8) than rng (7). Only thing that could faze do was force overtime so gambit get max 2 points.

Yeah, that's another option - Gambit isn't a better team though.. Just a stupid veto from Renegades, why ban train and leave inferno in? ugh, makes no sense.

cause Gambits Train is stronger than their Inferno. this veto would never go in RNGs favour because they simply have a weaker map pool than Gambit

To everyone complaining that Gambit made it through with 3 losses, please notice that all the teams behind them also had 3 losses. It's not like there was another team that won more games but didn't make it through.

Shox needs to stop IGLing it affects his performance too much, and his leading is average. He needs to be relieved of this duty so he can madfrag again like he should. G2 lose tons of very close games they would win with Shox on jesus mode.. Also they really need to stop with this " forcebuy every round " french BS .

Im really impressed with how far optic has come on such a short time. Sure they might collapse at times, but mostly they are doing pretty well all things considered. Im excited to see if friberg can grow into his role as ingame leader.

Everyone should keep in mind that gambit crushed the 1st place team and also spanked the second place team. If it wasn't for some unlucky chokes it would be very possible seeing them in first. I'm my opinion is say its gonna be gambit in the final and possibly winning the whole thing.
