Astralis could skip EPL S6 Finals as device will miss event - Report

Nicolai "device" Reedtz will miss another event, ESL Pro League Season 6 Finals, with Astralis ready to pull out of the tournament in case WESA disallows the team from using Dennis "dennis" Edman.

According to a source close to the team, Nicolai "⁠device⁠" Reedtz's slow recovery will prevent him from attending ESL Pro League Season 6 Finals with Astralis, who had just played BLAST Pro Series with Dennis "⁠dennis⁠" Edman as a stand-in this weekend.

Astralis are looking into using the Swede once more at the Pro League Finals in Odense. Their situation can be compared to Liquid, who will have to use Wilton "⁠zews⁠" Prado at the finals as Lucas "⁠steel⁠" Lopes wasn't allowed to play by WESA. That may become an issue for Astralis, as dennis also played the full online season of ESL Pro League with another team, GODSENT.

In case WESA denies Astralis their appeal regarding dennis, the team will pull out of ESL Pro League Season 6 Finals altogether, the source says.

When reached for a comment, RFRSH CEO Nikolaj Nyholm told HLTV.org that Astralis "are currently in talks with WESA and ESL about the situation".

There is also the thing with disco doplan, he played the EU minor open qualifier, and did qualify for the minor, but he didn't play at the actual minor with epsilon. While boltz and steel played the closed qualifier, which is still online portion of the qualifier, the difference that disco was allowed to play for fnatic in the major, but boltz and steel are not. So NA get screwed because they have a "closed qualifier" and EU haven't? how do make the ruling in this situation?

Why is that stupid? It's similar in football. A player, who played ni CL this season can't play for another team. So why is it stupid in this case? TL can use zews, he is the coach and was on the team the whole season. Astralis also has a coach, who could play - but they don't want to and ESL should follow their own rules.

SK/Liquid were roster moves, while the case of Astralis is a medical issue. Astralis should be allowed to use a stand in for the tournament since its a medical issue and not just a roster change.

there are clear rules in place in case of illness. astralis CAN play with a stand-in, just not someone who's already played the season on another team (dennis played on godsent). and they specifically want dennis to perform better than with another stand-in, so in that regard it's not really all that different from liquid.

it's all in the transfer rules esl-one.com/fileadmin/user_upload/pro-le.. astralis can only use the 3 substitutes they named at the start of the season. additionally, godsent isn't allowed to loan dennis to astralis at this time.

I dont see the rules mentioning anything about illness and a player being unable to play, so going back to the earlier comment you made, it is not clearly handled in the rules.

Why can't Device play? He is such a pussy, the guy is not even hospitalized. Olof and Guardian played in condictions way worse than his, and if i am not mistaken, Fer played with only 10% of his hearing for at least 5 months. The thing is that he is at home hanging curtains with his GF, Ms. Emilia Teamruinner.

knowing that my friends need me? for sure I would (actually i've done it several times @ my previous real life job, calling sick days is not that easy or well accepted in the corporate world). And the thing is... There was no disclosure regarding what is wrong with him. They've runned several exams and no one made a single comment about his condictions, which leads us to understand that: 1) as he is not hospitalized we can assume that his illness is not that serious; 2) it could be a mental condiciton, which I really doubt, but it would make sense. Both scenarios end with Device being a pussy.

let's assume device still likes his job and wants to play. he goes to doctor and explains his situation another assumption. if the doctor say don't play you don't play. if you are ill and go to work sneezing all the time, you are an asshole.

And this is the thing, there was no disclosure regarding his condiction, which i find very odd since there is no reason to keep us in the dark (unless it is some mental issue). We are not talking about a mere cold or a flu here, he has been "sick" for a while now (more than 2 weeks). Judging by your words, I would bet that you've never worked on an office. When you have the flu it is ok to call a sick DAY... do this for two weeks and you'll get your ass fired as soon as you enter the front door. (Most comonly thing to happen is that when people feel sick they go to the office feeling bad, sneezing all the time, and wait until their bosses/hr department gives them the day off)

yeah sure man i know it's not good to be sick for prolonged time but everything could happen and why would he share his medical condition with the entire audience that's his business. it can be anything for all we know. it's most likely wrist problems or whatever since this is not a normal desktop job this is bit more intensive job.

yeah, you are right. In the end it may be some kind of physical injury due to repetitive strain. I guess that I was too harsh on him. But i still think that, as a public person he/astralis should at least disclose a little bit about the nature of his "ilness".

I get what youre saying, but Device has been sick for more than 2 weeks, since he had some trouble with his throat or stomach if im not mistaken, also the fact that he might want to hide facts about his ilness could be because he doesn't feel like he is ready or simply that the doctors have not been able to determine what is wrong with him.
