FaZe survive nail-biter against mousesports to win ECS Season 4

The grand final kicked off on Nuke, which has been a very strong map for MOUZ on LAN. Curiously, though, it was FaZe who drew first blood, winning the pistol round and the subsequent anti-ecos, but when the game reached the gun rounds it was almost about MOUZ great defense as they lost just one round in the remainder of the half and it was because of a great individual action from Finn "⁠karrigan⁠" Andersen, who picked up an ace on a very weak buy for his team.

The second half followed the same pattern of the first as FaZe won the pistol round and the following anti-ecos, only to lose control of the map once MOUZ had money to work with. Three rounds straight went to the Terrorists, who were now up 14-7, but they struggled to deal the finishing blow as FaZe tightened up their defence.

MOUZ ended up hitting map point off of a 1v2 clutch from Chris "⁠chrisJ⁠" de Jong on a shoddy buy, but they would have to wait until the 30th round to lock down the map, with Tomáš "⁠oskar⁠" Šťastný picking up two kills in a 2v3 situation on the lower site to give his team the lead in the series.

FaZe end the year with a trophy win

MOUZ carried their momentum into Inferno and got out to a quick 3-0 lead as Terrorists. FaZe then came close to winning the first gun round of the game, but could not retake the A site as Robin "⁠ropz⁠" Kool and oskar stood their ground with AWPs in a 2v3 post-plant situation.

After getting their economy back on track, FaZe went on a fantastic run, winning seven rounds straight as they gave their opponents very little room to operate. That was when oskar stepped up to the place and delivered some key frags to push MOUZ to win the final three rounds of the half and secure a narrow 8-7 lead.

The second half began with FaZe storming through the A site with ease to equalise the score at 8-8, but then MOUZ hit back with a successful force-buy gamble thanks to a trio of kills from Miikka "⁠suNny⁠" Kemppi.

What followed was a keenly-contested period of play as neither side could muster a breakthrough, but then MOUZ strung three rounds together to cripple FaZe's economy. Instead of ecoing the next round, karrigan's men went on a force-buy - a strategy that paid dividends as they caught mouz's B defenders off-guard.

The momentum was now swinging in FaZe's favour, and they took that chance to get one round away from map point. With the game clearly slipping away from MOUZ, suNny pushed banana alone and managed to pull off a triple-kill to put his team back in the game, with the two sides remaining tied after regulation.

The first overtime failed to determine a winner as Håvard "⁠rain⁠" Nygaard delivered a monstrous performance on the CT side to bail his team out of a very tricky situation. The second overtime was a completely different story, however, as FaZe won four rounds straight to take the series to Mirage.

The decider map saw FaZe jump out to a 3-0 lead once again before losing control of proceedings as soon as MOUZ got money in the bank. oskar's men picked up six rounds straight, but then they surprisingly lost an anti-eco round.

FaZe made the most of that opportunity and restored parity at 6-6 off of an ace from Ladislav "⁠GuardiaN⁠" Kovács, but a late resurgence from MOUZ earned them a narrow 8-7 lead going into the break.

Now playing as Terrorists, FaZe entered the game brimming with confidence and easily hit the A site in the pistol round, with Olof "⁠olofmeister⁠" Kajbjer getting four kills to his name. After the game reached the gun rounds, however, it was suNny's time to shine as he inspired MOUZ to take a three-round lead with some great individual plays.

With the situation threatening to spiral out of control, FaZe picked up the pace and won five rounds in a row to reach match point, but then Martin "⁠STYKO⁠" Styk pulled off a quad-kill to stop a B execution and push the game to the final round, in which MOUZ would come out on top after finding themselves with a two-man advantage early on thanks to suNny, who was now on 37 frags.

MOUZ took the lead in the game after winning two rounds in the first half of overtime, but, just like on Inferno, rain stepped up to the plate when it mattered the most and inspired FaZe to complete another great turnaround in a match that was much closer than many expected.
