WESG Americas Regional Finals to be played online

WESG 2017 Americas Regional Finals, which were originally supposed to be played in Santa Ana, California, will be played online to avoid visa issues.

The organizers cited the current United States' migration policy as the reason for the shift to an online environment, with some of the countries facing difficulty during the visa processes.

The dates of the finals have not changed; the Americas Regional Finals will be played from February 1-4, although they have been split into two sub-regions, North America and South America, to combat ping differences.

Cloud9 and SK are among the seven teams competing in North America

In the male competition, seven teams competing in North America will battle for five spots at the finals, and South America will have two spots on offer among five teams. As for the female part, each region will offer a spot to the winner, with five teams competing in NA and three in SA.

Totally agree with this, it is far from a fair tournament or a fair decision by the tournament organizers. Sadly, it will still have to be played in the worst conditions.

For this next event, the qualifiers If played on NA would be way more difficult than last one. It's not like you can't go to Brazil for 2 days and play with a decent ping, you would've to travel to USA anyway and would've less chances than you will have by playing the SA qualifiers.

I understand why the NA Qualifiers are online, cuz of VISAs, etc, since they have a Mexican team in the qualifier aswell, but South america has no problem with VISAS among our countries, so I totally agree with u, it is unfair to make it online in South America, since we dont have VISa issues with ourselves

Was know since a few days. Several SC II plays cant attend because they play IEM in South Korea from 5th to 7th. (Timezone changes adds another day during flight from Amerika to south korea) So the SC II players now can play online from south korea.

SK and C9 are near guaranteed a spot. However, what are the next teams to place from NA?? There are 3 more spots after C9 and SK claim theirs. I think the French Canadians will qualify. Now it gets difficult, Mythic is a pug team and have not shown results as of late, but I think they should edge out all other competition and qualify. Subtle qualifies too. This leaves Swol and Mexico out of the tournament.
