FaZe pull off comeback against SK; advance to the playoffs

After a rought start to the game on Cache, FaZe managed to come back the game and defeat SK, 16-12, and advance to the playoffs with a 3-0 record.

Despite Ladislav "⁠GuardiaN⁠" Kovács's double kill on the B site defense to start off the game, SK was the team that won the pistol and took the lead early on. FaZe picked up their first buy, but Epitacio "⁠TACO⁠" de Melo's entries in both the fifth and the sixth round saw SK break the European side's economy and go 6-1 up.

Mid was highly contested in the unsueing gun round, but even though FaZe managed to keep hold of it, SK rolled into A, traded kills and allowed Fernando "⁠fer⁠" Alvarenga to clutch it out. After winning with just pistols, Finn "⁠karrigan⁠" Andersen's team finally managed to get on a streak of round wins, with GuardiaN's quad kill in round 12 helping that cause significantly.

Even though FaZe had a strong end to the half, SK still went into the second half with a comfortable 10-5 lead.

FaZe's Slovakian opened up the second pistol round as well, with his two Deagle kills being converted into a round this time, though. After closing out the anti-ecos and bringing the score to 10-8, Nikola "⁠NiKo⁠" Kovač and GuardiaN combined for all five kills, picking apart SK's full buy defences and eventually bringing the match back into even keel.

SK's defenses were getting overwhelmed by FaZe's Terrorist side pace, with Olof "⁠olofmeister⁠" Kajbjer getting some key kills as his team took the lead and went 13-10 up. The score was 14-12 when FaZe managed to convert a 4v5 round into a win thanks to karrigan stepping up with a triple. The European side completed their T-side comeback shortly, winning the match 16-12.

A lot of SK-hate on HLTV right now. FaZe has a long way to go, to prove themselves against this Brazilian squad. That was by no means an easy BO1, if anything it was an up-hill struggle; and regardless of how well he's been playing in this tournament, felps is still a stand-in. Even though i cheer for both "top teams" since their start as kinguin and kaboom esports, i also live by what Taz showed us when VP lost to fnatic (iem katowice 2015 i think) which is to always respect the other team, no matter what. Finally Faze wins something against SK... but it's BO1. Though it's obvious that SK would lose, too shaky with felps. I'm glad that it wasn't by much. As cold said the objective is get legend status. It will be very difficult to win this major.
