oskar: "We're looking forward to FaZe and to our revenge for Cancun"

One of the best players of the ELEAGUE Major so far, Tomáš "oskar" Šťastný, gave us an interview after mousesports made it past Space Soldiers to clinch a spot in the playoffs.

MOUZ were one win away from the ELEAGUE Major playoffs when they met Quantum Bellator Fire at the beginning of the day in round four of the Swiss format, but it was the Russian-Lithuanian squad that advanced to the next stage following a huge comeback on Train, climbing back on the CT side of Train from a 2-13 deficit.

The European mixture then had their second chance to clinch Legends status on Mirage against Space Soldiers and managed to edge the Turks following a tight finish to the match, celebrating a playoffs finish at 16-13.

oskar discussed mousesports' fiasco against QBF earlier today

In our last interview from the group stage, Tomáš "oskar" Šťastný talked about the Quantum Bellator Fire fiasco, how the last rounds of the Space Soldiers match went, and their quarter-final matchup, FaZe:

We have to start with the previous match against QB Fire, where your CT side on Train was perfect, but then you couldn't get anything going, what happened there?

I don't know, none of us had any ideas on what we could do, so it was hard playing against them. All of us completely turned off, on the CT side we all communicated well, the communication was perfect, but then on the T side we came up with some pistol that we had probably never done before. And that's how it started, after that we couldn't agree on what to do and how to attack them. Nothing went well, they had a massive wall and we just couldn't do anything.

In the last rounds against Space Soldiers, you ended things with two B rushes - who called that and what was the thinking there?

Well, the first rush was mine, because I was exhausted and nervous after the clutches that we played and lost, so I called a rush B, which worked even if with a bit of luck, and then chrisJ repeated that, "hey guys, let's do it again".

In that first rush you ended up leaving MAJ3R in a smoke around car for a really long time, did you even know about him there in the chaos?

Well, someone called that position, but at first someone said he was under window, then he got lost and shot from the smoke, so I was trying to find him with a glock, but I couldn't. Then finally someone killed him. It was a chaotic round, even the entire match was chaotic.

Did chrisJ say something after he broke his curse at Majors?

No, he didn't, but he's happy.

You've so far had a great showing individually, aside from that one half against QB Fire, was there anything special for you about this group stage?

I don't know, I was trying to keep myself calm. Most of the time when I'm calm and I give ideas and help the guys with calls, I play better than when I'm quiet and I think about things that happened on the server, that I missed a shot or something like that. That always messes me up, but against the better opponents I was trying to think about what we could do, give my own ideas, and I played better.

We now know you'll meet FaZe in the quarter-finals - thoughts on the draw?

We're looking forward to them and to our revenge for Cancun.

We've conducted interviews with most teams that played in the group stage at the ELEAGUE Major throughout the last four days, all of which you can find in the list below:

Day 4
United States William "RUSH" Wierzba: "My ultimate goal was Legends status, but I think we can get top four"

Ukraine Oleksandr "s1mple" Kostyliev: "We'll do everything to prove we're becoming stronger"
Brazil Marcelo "coldzera" David: "We thought Gambit would pick Cache against us"

Oskar is on fire, the best player of major so far. I believe mouz will eliminate Faze, and if G2 elminate SK on semi finals they could win this major.

I think Mouz has chance for upset, Oskar will have to play good not whiff so many shots and choke like normal, styko has to play better than bot for once, weedj needs to step up and stop crying, suNny is actually one of my favourite players atm, really good aim with every weapon, ropz needs to play like his FPL days.

In my honest opinion, ropz and sunny are really skillful players and aren't much worse than niko or rain skill-wise, but they lack experiences what makes them worse.

If Oskar does in quarter what he did so far in groupstage FaZe can already pack their bags. It's gonna be all on him. Mouz has a lot of good players but noone in that team can shut a whole server down for almost every match with stable impactful 30+ frags. It's gonna ve a good match if Oskar gonna be in a good shape. GL

STYKO is support, that’s why he dies a lot. Plus they always put him on b by himself. That’s why he always clutches in 1vX positions because he is a good player. He just has a very difficult role.

Oskar finally made it. :) I remember him as rising star back in 1.6 when he was 15 years old youngster who was able to RAPE, on a regular basis, anyone in our scene, no matter how established the opponent was. :D ... He had that "prodigy" aura around him, but our scene is just upside down mentality-wise, and he was just another talented CZ/SK player who will go nowhere. ... and now he is in a situation when his own success on the biggest stage is highly dependent on his ability to deliver. :D Good luck, Oskar! Mous can win, but you have to be on fire! GL&HF

Hey, EFRON! :D How's it going? Yeah, stopped to play/follow CS back in 2011?12? and then I saw a stream from some tournament in 2016 and loved the broadcast production for the game today. And when you are lucky you can even find a good 4 teammates in MM. :D Yeah, CS is still, from time to time, a good way how to relax for a guy who suffers in a corporate business IT job. :D
