Cloud9, Renegades march on at StarSeries; Virtus.pro, TyLoo eliminated

Cloud9 and Renegades live to fight another day at StarSeries i-League Season 4 after defeating Virtus.pro and TyLoo, respectively, by 2-0 scorelines.

The first big match of the day, featuring Cloud9 and Virtus.pro, began with a flying start from the Major champions, who jumped out to a 9-1 lead on the CT side of Mirage. It was only then that VP's offence finally came to life, but as the half came to an end they still found themselves down by five rounds.

Cloud9 continued where they had left off and further added to their lead by taking the pistol round with a simple A execution. The North Americans could not be stopped until they hit 15 rounds, when a 1v2 clutch from Filip "NEO" Kubski kept Virtus.pro in the game. However, it was just too little, too late, as C9 would secure the following round to lock down the map, 16-6.

Cloud9 made light work of Virtus.pro

Train followed the same pattern as the first map as Cloud9 strolled to a 7-1 lead, this time on the Terrorist side. Virtus.pro then kept their hopes alive by winning two rounds in a row, the second courtesy of a quad-kill from Janusz "Snax" Pogorzelski, but the North Americans quickly regained control of the game and closed out the half with a commanding 12-3 lead.

And more misery was to come for VP, who got destroyed in the second pistol as they attempted to enter the inner site. The Polish players were in a clear state of disarray and confusion, and they were simply helpless to prevent Cloud9 from running away with the victory.

Meanwhile, Renegades and TYLOO faced off in a rematch of the last four Asia Minor finals. With a vintage performance from Joakim "jkaem" Myrbostad, who was already on 20 frags by the 10th round, Renegades secured a three-round lead at the end of the first half, but they still must have been kicking themselves after allowing Hansel "BnTeT" Ferdinand and Kevin "xccurate" Susanto to pull off massive clutches during the early stages of the game.

The second half began with Renegades steamrolling their way to map point. The Chinese team then finally got their first round on the board as Terrorists, but there was nothing they could do to prevent the Australians from taking the map.

Renegades bested TyLoo on two maps

Cobblestone, the map that followed, began with TYLOO taking the pistol round and the subsequent anti-ecos. But the landscape of the game changed dramatically once Renegades bought up, with the Australians quickly taking the lead following back-to-back 1v2 clutches from Noah "Nifty" Francis and Karlo "USTILO" Pivac

For the rest of the half, Renegades were in cruise control, and they kept that momentum going after the break, winning the first three rounds to bring the scoreline to 14-4. TYLOO refused to throw in the towel, however, and made a significant climb back into the game, but the Australians kept their cool and locked down the map to move on in the Ukrainian tournament.

Yeah, they're in a similar situation to ANZ. Practice partners are lacking unless you move or deal with 100-300 ping.

The era of romanticism in CS is dead, the time when people actually believed that rather finding a better player, we can find a solution to bring the best out of existing players. The era in which predictions didnt say everything, a 12-3, 13-2 half could be clutched back and when needed, your star players will step up and bring it home for your team. Goodbye VP, legends forever.

Virtus pro time to change all of you! I watch practically all matches and you do not completely develop. Changing one player will not bring anything. Have you had little time for training? god, what a nonsense Snax and b_yali know Michu for a long time. In this match they were waiting only for the end of this match nothing more! Katowice will be another disappointing tournament.

You know, overall, Asian CS is in rising now, MVP putting numbers against tier1 - 15 rounds vs SK, almost winning vs VP, and doing 17 rounds vs HR. That's a good sign of development.

Still it's frustrating how Tyloo or whatever is the best Asian team cant defeat Renegades to save their lives. I mean, even Mongolz did it once.

I think, there is no best team in Asia, even Tyloo said, that they are not best. Probably, communication issues, half-English and half-Chinese. And somehow, fnatic > RNG Tyloo > fnatic. RNG > Tyloo

Yeah it really hurts them to have to speak potato English to communicate. As much as I like BnTeT and the other guy. Individually I think they would be much better with fancy and another Chinese talent.

Asian CS will never develop thanks to the garbage swiss format, along with every other low tier team. I’m pissed their first match up was vs. SK, that’s fucking bullshit on both ends lmfao. SK gets childplay on their first seed and MVP takes a mandatory loss? Seems fair.

They need time, when pasha changed luq back in time they lost 2 tournaments and then they got majors first place, they need some time, its not easy to play with a new member. Saying that changing taz wasnt necessary is bullshit, because its not only frags and game but also a relations between players

I think Renegades will be better overall without NAF, Jks, Ustilo and AZR are all playing better with NAF leaving and Jkaem seems to be slotting in really well, Nifty is having a little slump right now but we all know he can bounce back and carry at any time, With more practice with Jkaem i think Renegades can get back into the top 10

I think they are, But the good thing is that it's not interfering with Jks too much, So they can both be stars, Jks was still the 2nd best player on Renegades when NAF was on the team but the problem is NAF took too many of Jks roles and he had to play too many he wasn't comfortable in, It wasn't a good mix, It already looks better with little practice

Yeah, NAF was not the problem but took too much work of others. Jkaem performs quiet well but it seems like he is not th eone who is essential of this Australia team.Maybe they can find a better choice?Renegades is like a team which do not need the fifth?Or maybe someone like Karrigan or glave(Sorry for wrong spell)?

No need to hate VP all day long , age is age , your reflex is going down as you get older . Same happening to Get_Right and f0rest as they also gets older every day . You still need to remember one thing , VP was on the top for quite long , you can hate them all day long but VP players have loads of money in bank ( Probably setup for life ) they don't have to go to work every day , they have fantastic history of achievements . STOP HATE what is the point ? You should wish them all the best to come back instead just kick them when they lay on the floor . SHAME ON ALL HLTV HATERS

I believe VP can recover after such a disaster tournament and can't wait for IEM Katowice. I have hope all those bad comments will disappear after next few events and we will see what guys can do. I don't know how many fans remember old days (2006-2009) with Taz when he was behaving as adult on scene and now he was cocky, talking bullshit all the time during interviews - looks like he believed that he is a superstar or smth... but truth is that real star is Neo - quiet, calm and well behaving all the time, doing what he should do - pure brain and skill - real old time superstar player. I think that youngsters like Snax, byali and also older pasha need some ice cube water on their heads to start preparing better for tournaments. Hope this tournament will help them to find motivation again. Real fans will always support you guys! Can't understand this trash talks now when 4 months ago you played epic battle in EPICENTRE 2017 and loosing just 2-3 to SK - comon people it's not fair saying such things to those guys...
