DreamHack reveals first Stockholm Masters invites; Tickets on sale

DreamHack has invited fnatic, SK Gaming, Ninjas in Pyjamas, and FaZe Clan to the upcoming $250,000 Masters in Stockholm, with tickets on sale to fans.

Back in November, DreamHack announced its fourth Masters event, to be held from August 29 to September 2 in the city of Stockholm, where 16 teams will compete for $250,000 in cash prizes.

Last year, the Brazilians of SK were runners-up to Virtus.pro at DH Masters Las Vegas in February, but then took a hard fall at the Malmö Masters, where they placed 5th-8th after losing to G2 in the quarter-finals. After lifting a Masters title in 2016, Ninjas in Pyjamas went out 3rd-4th and 5th-8th last year, in Las Vegas and Malmö, respectively.

Fans can now purchase tickets for the event

fnatic will be headed to Stockholm hoping to improve on last year's 9th-12th place finishes at DreamHack Masters events. However, they are not the only team with a string of lacklustre results as FaZe have yet to finish better than 9-12th at a DreamHack Masters event following three attempts.

There are now 12 spots left to fill at DreamHack Masters Stockholm. Four of those spots will remain to teams invited directly, while the remaining eight will be determined by open qualifiers, which have yet to be determined.

The first four teams for CORSAIR DreamHack Masters Stockholm are as follows:

Sweden Ninjas in Pyjamas Brazil SK
Sweden fnatic Europe FaZe

DreamHack Masters Stockholm will culminate with the playoffs at Ericsson Globe, on September 1-2. Event tickets are on sale now, with prices ranging from 399 SEK ($48) to 3999 SEK ($485).

Pleeease, do not invite NIP! NIP is shit! They should qualifier for tournaments. Waste of spots. People cannot enjoy the best CS on a tournament. They pay for shit playstyles like NIPs. PS: And maybe, NIP would be better if they have to qualifier for the most of their tournaments because it is a good way to develop.

Nip wins at least one tier 1 tournament/year. In 2016 they won 3 and 2017 they won 1. Whats your point?.

My point is that NIP barely play any LANs except when they are invited and they usually go out in groups, except for Oakland when they magically win

Winning is the point. Even teams like QBF can go deep but only nutty teams win in the end.

Only reason they got an invite is because it's on home soil. But yeh I agree with you, if Fnatic wants to be invited to events they have to start winning, otherwise qualifying should be their only option

Why does ppl get so upset about domestic teams getting invites? Look at it from the other perspective; wouldn't it be wierd af if no swedish teams got invited to a swedish event held in the capital of sweden? It's extremely logical that organizers want domestic teams in the competition, just give it a rest ok?

what this news doesnt tell you is that those overwhelming results from faze and fnatic at those events compare to NIP are mostly due to bullshit draws in group stage where NIP "miraculously" get lucky

Natural choices. The two most stable team in the last year and two swedish team. My guess is that Astralis and Cloud9 will also get an invite. One because they are danish and neighbours, so could get some danish fans and Cloud9 because they are from NA and the latest major winners.
