SK eliminate Gambit; fnatic earn IEM playoff spot

SK stay alive in Katowice with a 2-1 win over Gambit (16-10 Inferno, 17-19 Overpass, 16-7 Train), while fnatic recovered against G2 to earn a playoff spot (7-16 Cache, 16-10 Mirage, 16-10 Cobblestone).

Gabriel "FalleN" Toledo's quad kill on the CT pistol set up SK for a great start to Inferno, Gambit's map pick. The Brazilian in-game leader didn't stop there, and managed to go 11-0 as his team took a 6-0 lead. Gambit then called a tactical timeout and managed a force-buy win, which they followed up by another round, going 6-2.

However, that is where their T side on Inferno ended, SK cleaned up the rest of the half by comfortable shutting down their executes and reading their fakes (13-2). Denis "seized" Kostin was the hero for Gambit in the pistol round, as his mid push yielded him three kills on unsuspecting Terrorists that encroached from alt mid.

Gambit built on that and was slowly closing the lead, however, at 14-10, Marcelo "coldzera" David and Epitacio "TACO" de Melo turned a 2v5 situation on its head with some crisp kills, allowing their team to take the map 16-10.

FalleN's team recovered after throwing away a 14-4 lead on Overpass

Starting on the Terrorist side of their map pick, Overpass, SK looked comfortable, dictating the pace of the game and overwhelming the defense of the Kazakhstani side. Making things even worse is that Gambit's two early gun round wins were followed up by bank-breaking losses, meaning they spent the majority of the CT half on low buys.

Towards the end of the half, seized rose to the occasion and grabbed key kills for the defensive side, but that only amounted to four Counter-Terrorist rounds in the end. Gambit got into a favorable afterplant on the A site in the second pistol, but TACO was able to claim the win there, punishing Dauren "AdreN" Kystaubayev's overextension. With the economic advantage going into the second half, SK easily got to a 14-4 lead, when Abay "HObbit" Khassenov clutched a 1v2 to keep his team afloat.

The team's new in-game leader kicked into a higher gear after that, quite literally leading his side by example in the comeback attempt. In the second half FalleN's AWP was ineffective and Fernando "fer" Alvarenga's aggressive plays were punished, allowing Gambit to slowly bring it back and eventually force overtime. Despite FalleN waking up in the added rounds and SK picking up two on the CT side, Gambit locked it down after the switch and took the win on Overpass, 19-17.

Despite a 3-0 start on the CT side from Gambit on Train, SK were the team to establish dominance first, as coldzera clutched two key rounds, a 1v1 in the first buy round and then a 1v2 that made the score 6-3. SK managed to extend their lead to 8-4 before seized and co. woke up, chaining three rounds together to tighten the gap on the scoreboard.

SK found success with a mixed buy in their last Terrorist round and then won the CT pistol as FalleN went huge to set themselves up for a comfortable end of the game (10-6). Gambit won their first buy round, but SK were playing with leftover SMGs, which allowed them to buy in the followup, reset Gambit and proceed to win the map 16-7.

fnc with two first two rounds, g2 go on a streak of 5 rounds, apex leading his side
some back and forth (7-3)
shox destroys fnc and their money with a 1v3 clutch on A (8-4)

fnatic kicked off Cache by taking the first two rounds, but they didn't stay on top long, as G2 then went on a streak by winning five consecutive Terrorist rounds, spearheaded by Dan "apEX" Madesclaire. The middle of the half featured some back-and-forth action, as fnatic tried to establish themselves on the CT side, and managed to get the score to 7-4.

However, in a crucial round, Richard "shox" Papillon pulled off a 1v3 clutch on the A site, breaking fnatic's economy and setting his side up for an 11-4 half. fnatic took the second pistol round as well, but after cleaning up the anti-ecos (11-7), struggled to do much. Kenny "kennyS" Schrub and co. didn't look bothered in the gun rounds, losing only a player or two while shutting down the Swedish side, and eventually closed out Cache 16-7.

The Swedes were off to a good start on Mirage, their map pick, starting 5-0 on the Terrorist side. G2 earned their first round after that, shutting down the clutch attempt by Robin "flusha" Rönnquist, but were promptly reset and fnatic extended their lead to 8-1.

G2 then adapted, putting three defenders around the mid area to stop fnatic's default, which earned them the round and put them on course to finish the half just 9-6 down. However, fnatic won yet another pistol round in the series, going four out of four, by locking down the approach towards A. It was looking like a done deal after fnatic started picking up buy rounds, with the help of Freddy "KRIMZ" Johansson who was putting up a masterclass performance.

KRIMZ keeps on delivering for fnatic

G2 managed to put together a comeback attempt as fnatic reached map point, though, and brought it back to 15-10, but lost the final round as fnatic pushed the series to Cobblestone.

The last map saw G2 finally pick up a pistol round and go 3-0 up as Terrorists, later on extending that lead even further as Nathan "NBK-" Schmitt got four SG556 kills in round 6. fnatic recovered from a 5-2 deficit in the second part of their CT side, as KRIMZ once again stepped up for the Swedes, this time being joined by flusha. As fnatic finished the half with a 9-6 lead, the duo had a +8 and a +6 KDD.

G2 won the CT pistol to give them an avenue into the game, but fumbled in the anti-eco which saw fnatic go 12-7 up. The Frenchmen mustered an eco win later on, which they followed up by two clutches going their way to keep their hopes for the series alive (12-10). Maikil "Golden" Selim's team then faked out G2 with ease as they sent flusha towards B while they breached A, and built on that to finish the game 16-10 and qualify for the playoffs.

i agree that kioshima is better than bodyy, but the argument is not correct. K/D/A don't show how someone really play. if you look at olof and taco for example, you'll notice a bad K/D/A, but they're one of the best players in the world in the style they play. Solo B in most of the games they play (CT side), player that get the info for the team, helping the team on the rotations, etc. this type of players don't usually have good K/D/A because they're playing to slow the enemy or to get info for the team, not to kill.

if a player doesn't kill his enemies then his 4 teammates have an additional work to do, because their teammate doesn't kill and having shox at his highest level can't help, because the other top teams have their own beasts that can do damage G2 try to play a heavily skill-based game, but they do not have enough power for it when bodyy loses so many duels

You do know that fer lost that Overpass all by himself, don't you? You eurocucks are actually too retarded. If cold wins games by being more passive and waiting for the clutches, than that's exactly what he should do.

His play isn't selfish, his play is passive and maybe selfish for the team. He does what is needed for his team to win so why shouldn't he do that? Should he change his entire role and their team's Chemistry just because of some faggots on hltv who don't know shit about CS are mad at him? He doesn't have assurance that if he'll go aggressive and get a kill and then die, his team will be able to definitely win the 4v4 or not like Niko in Faze does. Even if Niko dies, the team is full of star players one of which would definitely step up. So stop criticizing cold over retarded logic and 0 understanding.

boltz doing shit at fragging AGAIN, worse rating than TACO... AGAIN. This explains a lot of why SK is sucking lately... boltz is fragging EVEN LESS than f*cking TACO... I mean, how can a team go far on a situation like this? If this keep happening, SK won't fight for titles anymore. In 2017 boltz was playing like a star, he was dominant and very good on aim duels... now he looks like crap, I wonder what's happening to him.

Just another one who does not understand players roles inside a team.. BOLTZ AND TACO are baiters FFS! Most of the times they WILL die so cold/fallen can trade them.. CS ITS NOT ONLY ABOUT K/D ratio.. Official games ARE NOT DM FFA!

LUL, dont praise him to be some sort of god when the reality is he gets carried by fallens tactics and fer, Their game is SO catered to him, he has far more advantages than any other star player to put up numbers. Hes composed, and hits his shots. Nothing special. Its far more impressive when your entry player has higher stats than you, and is basically solo winning the game for you with his pushes. This tool will never, i repeat never enter a choke point without bating someone, Garbage

Cold will have the same stats if he went aggressive, but he doesn't because he knows that unlike some other teams he doesn't have a lot of players who will definitely win the round for them. Fer can go aggressive because he has nothing to lose and knows that if he gets enough info and a kill or two and then die- cold, fallen and the supports will definitely bring the round back. So stop hating on him because you lost a bet or you just don't like his country, he has proven again that he's a world class player and a top3 for sure.

Why are you counter arguing with bullshit logic. "Cold would frag the same way if he was aggressive". Based on what? You got mystical powers to know how he would play if he stopped baiting? Hes still a good player, I have him as 6th best atm. But I'm sick of silly morons overrating his play, calling him the best player of all time when the guys team is catered around him. Nobody writes wow sick tactics by fallen to make cold succeed. Or nobody writes amazing play by fer solo winning them maps. People just look at his baiter stats, and say hes the best player in the world. Why can simple play better than him being an aggressive entry fragger when he has no other stars on his team? There is no reason why cold is always in the top 5 least deaths per round, when hes not even the fkn awper on his team. If he was so godly, he would adapt his game when his team is clearly unsuccessful running their bait strats for him.

I don't have the energy or the time to try and talk to a 40IQ Baboon who can't understand basic points and logic, and I know you're not going to give up your ridiculous argument any time soon or listen to reason, so I'd rather not.

The simplest measure of a persons intelligence in a debate, is when they resort to name calling when they have nothing else to say. I was playing competitive before you were probably born. So take your own advice, stfu, and stop responding to me like a genuine simpleton.

LUL.. I was making a point on why BOLTZ perfomances changed.. Nothing about cold's.. BOLTZ and Taco are support and they prob will end up with shit kdr's.. And Taco still has advantage over BOLTZ cuz he solo b defense on almost every map.. People think that comp games are all about kd ratio and its not.
