flusha: "[After Kiev] we took a break from each other and tried to get our individual skill on top"
After fnatic made playoffs with a win over G2 earlier today, we caught up with Robin "flusha" Rönnquist to find out what had gone wrong at StarSeries last week and what the team did to get back in shape.
fnatic have picked up two wins in Poland so far, defeating HEROIC in the first round before taking down G2 2-1, grabbing relatively comfortable wins on Mirage and Cobblestone. The Swedes now have FaZe ahead of them in Group B's upper bracket final to decide who will advance to semi-finals and who will be left with a quarter-final spot.

We interviewed Robin "flusha" Rönnquist and went back to StarSeries, where fnatic suffered a quick death following a 0-3 record in the best-of-three Swiss format, and found out what the team did to regain their form in between the two tournaments. We naturally also asked him about the upcoming match against FaZe, who have so far dominated the matchup, and their chances later on in playoffs.
First things first, we have to go back to StarSeries. I don't think anyone expected you to go 0-3, what went wrong?
I myself don't even know what happened at Starladder, we lost to some lower-tier teams and it felt like we weren't really there individually. Even though our teamplay and synergy wasn't on top either, we weren't even hitting shots, so it was like an all-time low for us in both regards. That's basically what happened at Starladder, it demotivated us a lot, but we came here to try to show our real level and we've done that so far.
Was there anything special you did after StarSeries, considering you had a lot more time than most of the other teams moving from Kiev to Poland?
Honestly, we didn't practice with the team at all, we took a break from each other, everyone played mostly FPL and Swedish Pro League and matchmaking or whatever, so we took a break from each other and tried to get our individual skill on top.
Is that the only thing you felt like you had to fix, seeing as it seems to be working here?
It was some small things as well, remaining calm and listening to each other better, try to help each other more, stuff like that. But I think we realized that, we fixed that and we're showing it right now.
After the quick Cache loss, it was quite clear you were favored on Mirage, but Cobblestone seemed surprisingly comfortable for you after that 2-5 point despite it being one of G2's best maps, could you shed some light on that?
Maybe it's their best map as well, but we really like it - or, our team as a whole, we're really good on it, but our players don't like the map. We have really good results on it, I think we're 7-1 now, we only lost to Renegades at Starladder, so we feel really comfortable on that. We know they're strong on it, but as long as we play our Cobble we're going to win.
Although you've already made it to playoffs, you still have the upper bracket final against FaZe left which will decide the semi-finalist, how are your chances in that matchup?
It's tough, of course, their individual skill is unmatchable right now. We're going to see how it is, either we come in on a hot day and have a chance of winning or we'll come in on a bad day and maybe not show ourselves so much, as we've done all the time we've played against them on LAN, except for the Inferno match.
Like I mentioned, you've already made it to the arena no matter what happens tomorrow, how are you feeling about that and your chances in the playoffs when you get there?
Honestly, we're just hoping for a good draw in the playoffs, because all the time we're playing SK or FaZe, so hopefully we get some other team except for them. We're confident against all the teams except for SK and FaZe.
