GeT_RiGhT: "Very weird to see Xizt wear a FaZe shirt"

We talked to Cristopher "GeT_RiGhT" Alesund after NiP's victory on Train over SK in their opening match in Marseille.

Ninjas in Pyjamas were able to seal the deal in their Bo1 opener against SK. Having taken 7 rounds on the T-side, the Swedes were then able to close the map out 16-13. Christopher "GeT_RiGhT" Alesund came in big for his team on the 21st round, winning a 1vs3 to keep a cushion between his team and the Brazilians.

GeT_RiGhT believes NiP still have to figure out how they want to play

GeT_RiGhT revealed Ninjas in Pyjamas's new outlook on preparing for tournaments, shed some light into the changes the team has made since the beginning of the year, and is having an ominous feeling about the direction CS:GO is taking as an esport.

In preparation for DreamHack Masters Marseille, did you guys do anything special?

We started a new thing to actually have bootcamps earlier than expected. Most teams usually have bootcamps right before the tournament, but we started doing them a couple weeks before so people can go home and have a break and enjoy quality time with friends, girlfriends, wives, etc. We feel like people are happier going into a tournament instead of feeling stuck in some negative vibe, it's good to get that small break to take a breath. So yeah, we bootcamped for five days a couple weeks ago, and then went back home. We lost a lot of time because of different social things we all had to do, but I think it has been pretty decent. I know all teams nowadays say "we can always push more," and it's true in a way, but in the end it's always the same excuse everyone is always saying, but it was ok.

You guys are doing well in Pro League, you're in second place, how has the feeling been in the team?

We still have some hiccups here and there. At some point, we had like six or seven losses in a row online and people were very tilted, but we made it through. We can be a team that's up there, you know, we just signed dennis and everything like that. It was a learning lesson, and it was a good thing that happened, but in my point of view, I don't think we've really found exactly what it is we want to do. We're on the way, and we're in that new team stage, even though we've been a team for two-and-a-half or three months now. I don't know, really, we just need to focus and attend more tournaments, play online, and so on.

Personally, I'm doing my best to keep grinding. I've been disappointed in myself for a very long time, but I know what I want and I know I have support from NiP, and I see the comments and everything. It's not like I'm sitting there and just relaxing. I'm giving it my best more and more each day to get closer to what I want. In this match [against SK] I managed to win a 1vs3 clutch and that really made me feel like I played my part for the team. Everyone has their goal in the team, and winning that play, even with bad stats, that's fine by me, I won that clutch and that was the most important thing for me, and it was a good boost for the team.

You brought up dennis coming into the team, and you also have pita back as coach, how have they adapted into the fold?

Me and Patrik [f0rest] have known Faruk [pita] for a long time, me personally even longer than Patrik, so for me, it was nice to know that he wanted to come back when we asked him to be our coach again because I know his mindset. I always liked what he did back in 2014 and so on even though coaching wasn't even close to what it is today. Faruk learned a lot from his job at the bank, and you can tell how much he has developed as a person. He has calmed down a lot and you can see how much there is in his mind that wasn't there back in 2014. You know, that's four years, and you can really see how much a person has grown in that time. Adding him to the team was a good thing for stability, especially for the younger players, but also for us older guys having someone to rely on.

Adding dennis to the team has been interesting. It's always interesting to see someone's own point of view, to listen to someone who hasn't been your in-game leader for the past six years, like Xizt was. I struggle a bit, personally, but I try do my best for whatever the team needs me. I believe we have something going on, but we're not close to figuring out what we really want and what we're going to do.

You have made some changes recently, but so have a lot of other teams here. Is there any team that has caught your eye, a certain change, or something to watch out for at this tournament?

I've never been one of those guys to predict scores and stuff like that. Changes are always interesting to watch, it's always catching my eyes. What's very weird is to see Xizt wearing a FaZe shirt. It's still weird in my mind, it's going to take a bit longer time, even him having the tag and stuff like that... but I don't know, it's going to be cool to see G2 with mixwell and Xizt in FaZe and all the other movements that have been going on.

It's an interesting tournament and I think this is a pretty good start for the long summer season for all of the teams. Who's going to make it and who's not going to make it. I think it'll be pretty cool to see what's going to happen.

There's a bit of a vacuum at the top of the rankings, where do you think the meta is, or what is causing this atmosphere?

To be honest, right now, I think the meta is very strange. Going back to the past, through both 1.6 and GO, I can't really figure out what the meta is right now. It feels like every day you play against different metas and styles. It isn't like forcebuys all the time like a couple years ago, or run-and-gun with certain weapons, or when AWPs were the best, or whatever, so I don't know. It's kind of like an in-between zone in which I'm not quite sure what the meta is. I think all of the changes the big teams have made could have an effect on this.

I just hope, and this is a more serious thing outside of just this question, and it's that I hope the players, and maybe Valve, and the fans watching, can come together and try to make the game better than it is right now. I'm not even close to saying the game is dying right now or anything like that, but I'm a little bit worried, and you have to remember I've been playing this franchise since I was 9-years-old, and I'm turning 28 in a month. So basically more than half of my life. I'm a little bit worried and I wasn't even worried when I transitioned to GO, which is a worrying sign, at least in my opinion.

So what is it that worries you?

What worries me is that they're not really caring enough. Maybe they do, maybe we're not seeing it or something. Maybe I'm just being a bit overdramatic, but I just feel there's something that's not right, and I'm not sure what it is. It's like that gut feeling, you know? When you get it you can't quite figure out what it is, but you know it's there, and that's what I'm having right now.

Backstabbed?! You know that a Professional Team isn't just like a team made with friends, its a business and if you underperform zlyou get kicked out it has nothing to do with backstabbing. Spiidi and Denis also played for years where they good? Hell no, and look at mouz now it's a big change and has nothing to do with being not nice or backstabbing...

+1 These are people commenting like that have not lived as an adult for very long or at all. They have this image in their head its like forming a clan back in the day and playing with your buddies. These are contracted players, payed a salary to perform, and if they dont, they have not met their contractual agreement. Its not like Forest and GTR are saying fuck him lets kick him. lol Love me some GTR though, I have been watching him play for many years. And he IS still relevant and on a top tier team. What a bad ass!
