G2, fnatic overrun MVP PK, Chiefs

G2 and fnatic are off to a great start at IEM Sydney 2018 after easing past MVP PK and Chiefs, respectively.

The headline fixture of the fourth round of opening matches began with MVP PK shutting down the A site in the pistol round on the back of a triple-kill from Min-Soo "glow" Kim in the pit. After taking the subsequent anti-ecos, the Koreans also picked up the first gun round on a weak buy, but then G2 responded with nothing but CZs.

That marked the beginning of a phenomenal run from G2. The French side ran all over the Korean defence and lost just one more round before the end of the half to grab a commanding 10-5 lead.

G2 were far too strong for MVP PK despite a slow start

Now on the CT side, G2 piled more pressure on MVP PK after winning the pistol round, with Kenny "kennyS" Schrub picking up three kills on the retake. The Asian team still tried to get back in the game, but to no avail, as the Frenchmen locked down the map without losing a single round in the half.

Over on the secondary stream, fnatic made light work of home side Chiefs by an even more impressive scoreline, with Freddy "KRIMZ" Johansson leading the charge with a dominant 2.04 Rating/+17 KDD.

The Swedish team shut down any chances of Chiefs stringing rounds together or building up an economy in the first half, and went into the break up by nine rounds.  fnatic did not let their foot off the gas after switching to the T side and won four rounds right off the bat to seal a comprehensive win.

They were 4 rounds up, and then lost 16, only gaining 1 in the process.
