fnatic secure playoff berth over G2

fnatic powered through Mirage and Overpass after losing Dust2 to take the three-map series over G2 and secure a spot in the playoffs.

The competitive LAN return of Dust2 was slated to be the first map of the series. The French team came quick out of the gate on the Terrorist-side pistol, but a 1vs3 clutch from Jonas "Lekr0" Olofsson with USP headshots on an A site retake gave the round to the Swedes. G2 were finally able to take the fourth round, and ten rounds into the map a stalemate had settled, 5-5. Some adjustments on B gave fnatic their sixth round, as Jesper "JW" Wecksell took three and Lekr0 one, but G2 were able to take A the following round to bring it back even. The half finally went to G2, but by the slimmest of margins, 8-7.

The second pistol round went the way of G2, and the French-Spanish team was then able to win the first gun round for a 12-7 lead. They then stopped an A doors rush to further cement their lead heading into the second gun round of the half. fnatic looked hopeful as Robin "flusha" Rönnquist got the opening frag, but a double by Alexandre "bodyy" Pianaro and triple by Oscar "mixwell" Cañellas shut the Swedes down.

Up against the ropes, fnatic were able to start tallying rounds, breaking G2’s six round streak, and started to come back by bringing it to 11-14. G2 got their 15th round thanks to doubles by Kenny "kennyS" Schrub and bodyy, but were unable to close it immediately as flusha ran down mid and took mixwell out early in the round to open it up for his team. The French side called a timeout with 15-12 on the board, and when the match resumed mixwell got instant revenge on flusha with a crisp AWP shot on mid. G2 then played a 4vs3 retake on B and closed the map out, 16-12.

JW had a great series against G2

The second map, Mirage, kicked off with a 2vs2 afterplant on A in the pistol round which JW was able to close out against bodyy and mixwell to give his team the first round. G2 on the forcebuy were then able to stop a B play by fnatic with a double by kennyS on catwalk and bodyy winning a 1vs1 against Freddy "KRIMZ" Johansson. The match kept moving along scrappily as fnatic won a forcebuy of their own. fnatic won the follow-up, but G2 took the first gun round. Once again, after trades on mid, fnatic traded the round and took a 5-2 lead.

The map then started to skew towards fnatic as the Swedes were able to break the CT’s economy several times, taking a hefty 7-2 lead and keeping the French team at bay, although winning the two last rounds gave G2 the chance to get back into it in the second half despite trailing 6-9.

Having won the pistol round, it looked like G2 was indeed going to get back into it, but early individual duels in the second round of the half left the French side down in a 2vs5 which ended up going the way of fnatic. Having taken control on the CT side, it didn’t take long for the Swedes to completely shut G2 down closing the side 16-7.

G2 were unable to seal the deal on Overpass

The third map kicked off with fnatic taking the CT pistol round on Overpass. The Swedes kicked it off in dominating fashion, playing aggressive Counter-Strike and controlling the map. G2 slowly started to get back into it, keeping it close in the middle portion of the half, 4-6, and slowly gaining control of the economic game. The French side kept grinding the rounds out, as well as fnatic’s economy. Up by one, 6-7, fnatic forced a buy with pistols, SMGs, and a glass cannon on JW, which paid off allowing them to take the half 9-6.

The second pistol round went the way of G2, who were able to stop an A push by the Swedish team, but fnatic were able to keep their lead in the first gun round, as JW outplayed mixwell in a 1vs1 on the A site with the bomb planted. Down 8-12, G2 were able to win a big round with doubles by Dan "apEX" Madesclaire and Nathan "NBK-" Schmitt to stay in the game.

fnatic took a force buy to keep their lead, 13-11, but G2 then won one of their own to get it back within one. All tied up, G2 won against a pistol buy on B, taking the lead late in the map, but fnatic then brought it back to a tie with two rounds to go. A huge round by JW in the 29th gave his team the lead going into the last round, which they were able to win to take the match.

Dear casters, stop smacking your fucking lips already, I want to listen to your comments, but now I'm forced to mute you and not hear anything. May be also fart in the microphone? No? Why? Because it's disgusting? Guess what - those sounds you produce when pretending to suck something are also disgusting. Let me guess - when fnatic, G2 or FaZe lose - it's always their IGL's fault, but when SK lose to TyLoo and Grayhound - you blame anybody but FalleN. So typical. NBK does a good job, it's only their second LAN event and they didn't even prepared to it well enough. P.S. shox wanted to keep bodyy over apEX btw, tell me it could ever work xD

He has never been an entry fragger, in 2016 he was a bait and focus changer for ScreaM to then come and rape everybody. And I can't get how shox wants to open sites, he hated playing that role in nV, but now he somehow wants to play it? Or who will it be - kennyS? It's just dumb to keep bodyy, especially when you already have Ex6 and SmithZz that can't do shit fragging-wise.

Ehm, do you know that Bodyy is the only one that did not trust this project at all? shox has bad relations woth ApeX, according to a french interview shox has given, he wants to keep KennyS on his side but absolutely not Bodyy. I agree with you, Ex6 can be a good move (depends on how he will return from tier 4 to tier 2) but Smithhz is definitely finished... We will see...

> Bodyy is the only one that did not trust this project at all Not sure how it's relevant in this case... > shox has bad relations woth ApeX Proof, please. I listened to his interviews and heard nothing about apEX. The thing is, Ex6 might be a mastermind, but having enough firepower is important too. Having SmithZz already raises a question about enough firepower, just like having bodyy, and when you have them both and Ex6 that doesn't have great firepower himself, you can't help thinking about their obvious future failure.

You will find what you want in these interviews: youtube.com/watch?v=aCwo9Y7DIsc youtube.com/watch?v=L2pRhUG_ryw Can't find the interview of shox where he says he's in disagreement with ApeX and caused bad relations before his departure. Even if you talk about firepower, you need a reliable 5, if we admit that the line up includes KennyS, there is still a lack of firepower because once KennyS and shox are dead, you cannot rely on Ex6 or Smithzz and it will be terrible to see all these 2v1 turning into lost rounds

No bad relation between shox and apex its just that apex like To be agressive playstyle 100% and shox think it is not viable to play like that (and he is right)

> Can't find the interview of shox where he says he's in disagreement with ApeX Because there was no disagreement with apEX. > once KennyS and shox are dead, you cannot rely on Ex6 or Smithzz Ex6 and shox want to have only 2 stars, shox being one of the two. In the past I thought they would need ScreaM, but they wanna rely on tactics and they think they thus don't need many madfraggers, and I kind of understand that, ScreaM is 1-dimensional, although he's the best French-speaking fragger that they might pick. In the end Ex6 will be responsible for the fails, so we should elt him do what he wants, anyway he will get all the hate if it fails.

"bad relation" was a bad term but he was definitely in disagreement with him. Yup I wouldn't like to be at Ex6's place aha, hope they will take ScreaM because his gameplay does not match with NV. I have absolutely no idea about the last (Smithzz, shox, Ex6, KennyS (maybe), ?)

shox wanted bodyy, Ex6 said his dreamteam would contain NBK, so it will be someone kioShiMa-like, or may be some young star that they will try to change (hAdji, ZywOo), not sure if RpK can really fit the role, but ScreaM is the last player that they might try :-)

Bodyy will stay with NBK for sure, same for ApeX I guess, he's negotiating with KennyS. If it doesn't work with KS we can think about devoduvek and Amanek (French duo coming from Misfits)

sure if G2 doesn't fail nobody will leave them, and if it does - only kennyS is willing to team up with Ex6, while NBK is 100% not AmaNEk is a decent hybrid player, but devoduvek is mediocre, it's exactly that case when a team has no enough firepower, Ex6 SmithZz devoduvek is meh

Yeah having Smithzz and Ex6 on the same team is an awful idea. We saw this with 2016 G2, which was only decent once Ex6 was kicked out for a decent fragger in Boddy and even then it took ScreaM playing out of his mind to make that team a contender. Shox and Kenny can overcome Ex6's lack of firepower, but him and Smithzz together is too much. Personally I'd like to see early 2016 G2 (Shox, ScreaM, Ex6, RPK, Smithzz) but with Kenny over Smithzz so lack of fire-power isn't an issue. Although at that point they might not need ScreaM. Doubt we will see that though.

Ofc we won't, shox wants SmithZz to play support in his new team :-) I also wanted ScreaM to team up with shox and kennyS, but: youtube.com/embed/iDXZfpD2_SA?cc_load_po.. youtube.com/embed/t_-gdeSoPJ0?cc_load_po.. If ScreaM could do what kio does now or NBK did before shox had left G2, they would pick him, but ScreaM is useful only in 1 case: somebody enters a site and ScreaM follows him to help or make trades, that's it. ScreaM is not a primary entry, he can't play passive, and he's not interested in playing support, he's a guy that loves to frag, I believe shox wants to play a much more active role now, so also having ScreaM will cause some kind of clash of roles, their duo worked because they couldn't send SmithZz to open something, with kennyS it could've been completely different.

They win the weakest major of all time (2 days before they wanted To split) Then nbk convinced shox after 6 months of harassment To take him Then shitty attitude To push shox the bench and convince bodyy To stay with him And now searching a player To kick bodyy Fr realise nbk is the biggest manipulator of all time.

when shox wanna lead - he doesn't care if it's better for the team, he just kicks the previous IGL, winning a major proves that Happy wasn't the problem at that moment when he wanna bring back his buttfriend - he thinks only about friendship, not about his buttfriend real usefulness, that's why he easily backstabs anybody - NBK, apEX, whomever shox cares only about himself

No they aren't, they're win percentage is higher since Shox left. Plus they weren't even supposed to come for this event, they were a last minute addition and hadn't prepared at all. Yet they still had such a close match with Fnatic, who are a much higher ranked team, so stop speaking out of your ass.
