EnVyUs have parted ways with team coach Damien "maLeK" Marcel, the North American organisation have announced.

The 32-year-old leaves Envy after a 15-month spell with the French team, having been recruited in February 2017, when Vincent "⁠Happy⁠" Schopenhauer rebuilt the squad after losing three players to G2.

During this time, Envy failed to reach the same heights of previous rosters, with the team's only title coming at DreamHack Open Atlanta.

The announcement comes at a pivotal moment for the French side, who sit at the foot of the table in ECS and will travel to Leicester to compete in the ESL Pro League relegation stage after finishing in a disappointing 12th place in the regular season.

"Damien joined Envy CS:GO at a pivotal moment of transition for our franchise and we are thankful to him for his efforts to build the new roster into one of the game’s most competitive," EnVyUs CEO Mike "Hastr0" Rufail said in a statement.

"Unfortunately, we have not achieved the championship level of success that our organization or fans expect from Envy CS:GO in recent months, and felt it necessary to make a coaching change."

Envy, who will take on Spirit in the first round of the Pro League relegation stage, now have:

its funny that ppl who know nothing about whats going on in the team, say the coach was bad. From what i have heard from ppl inside the industry he is a very good coach who buts alot of time into tactics and works very hard. But this things somehow dont show up in game cause some arrogant fuck called Happy.

Well that's the prob. He focussed mostly on rpk. Giving him good positions. And didn't use scream properly. Scream always had bad positions. Were he had to peek awpers. Or enter in like a decoy to get info

Happy is way too smart for counter-strike. I think 99% of the community + players are simply too stupid to understand his approach to the game. Other E-Sport titles probably skimmed off most of the intelligent players and what is left is playing counter-strike. It's sad, it's so sad.

Yea, I see no other explanation for their bad results. They are a team full of star players, with experience (except for hAdji, who are the team's youngster). And they cant achieve titles. Dude, I think nobody will ever understand what is going on with EnVy. They are such a good team on paper (Happy, RpK, ScreaM, kioShima and hAdji), but everytime they play together, seems like they know nothing about CSGO. They simply choke. I'll never understand that.
