BIG win Global Challenge over Spirit in two maps

BIG kicked the series off winning their pick, Overpass, 16-9, and followed it up taking Nuke in a map that went down to the wire, 16-14.

The final started on Overpass, BIG’s map pick. The German team started taking the pistol round on the Terrorist side, with doubles by Johannes "nex" Maget and Johannes "tabseN" Wodarz. Having won both anti-ecos, BIG then took the first gun round with a double entry by Tizian "tiziaN" Feldbusch opening up enough space for the B site to be ready for taking. Spirit finally got on the board in the sixth round by stopping a very late B push by BIG, who were down one player before the execute. The Russian-Ukrainian side then started to get rounds by taking advantage of BIG’s loose playstyle, bringing it back to 5-5.

Having barely been able to close the half out, 8-7, the German players were then able to win the second pistol round and regain their lead. Spirit closed the gap to 8-10, but were then reset by BIG as the Germans who were on eco were able to capitalize on early frags against Spirit. BIG then ran away with it, not allowing Spirit to play their game, and closing out the second half 16-9.

BIG take the $18,000 first place prize

The second map, Nuke, started with BIG winning the pistol round going to A site, but were then stopped by the CTs trying to make the same play on the second round. From there on out Spirit was in control, winning five more rounds before BIG decided to take a timeout. Having had time to talk and relax, BIG won two rounds in a row, but were quickly brought back down by Spirit whose CT side, spearheaded by Viktor "sdy" Orudzhev, was too much for the German side.

Down 4-11, BIG started to bring it back by winning the pistol round and the anti-ecos. They then kept the ball rolling on the first gun round, which they took after defending an A-site push to bring it within striking distance, 8-11. Their streak stopped when Dmitry "S0tF1k" Forostyanko with two Desert Eagle head shots and two AWP kills swayed the eco Spirit’s way. The match then went back and forth, with nex playing an amazing map, as the teams traded rounds, but it was finally BIG who made it to 15 first and then closed it out, winning a retake on B in the thirtieth round and defusing the bomb to end it right then and there.

1.) Man, that's not Serbia. They use dollars Bro, not stones. 2.) Afaik ESL pays the tickets and hotels. Same goes for hotel. 3.) Tickets to NYC cost circa 500$ here in CR. So "not even enough" is not accuratte.

Reminds me of the 2015 days when Nex was like one of the hottest young players in the world. On his day he is such a sick aimer, glad he's playing well now he's back under Gob b's system.

I thought nex was gonna be one of the absolute top players back then, loved watching him. He has really high peaks but suffers from consistency and motivation issues I think. Maybe he'd be better in a Euro mix type team like Faze

Keep in mind that BIG is only getting 4/5 or 3/5 of the points they deserved from their accomplishments, because of the roster changes. Since Legija is now inactive, his points are removed from their ranking.

Do you really think that BIG is good? Yea, they will enter the top30 again in the next ranking. But do you seriously believe that they will keep playing better in the future and they seriously deserve their spot at ESL One Cologne even though they won't even make it to the playoff stage?
