ESL Pro League Season 7 FinalsFaZe to playoffs over mousesports; Cloud9 knock Sharks out in three maps
FaZe secured a playoff spot after taking Overpass and Mirage over mousesports, while Cloud9 took two of the three maps in their series to send Sharks packing.
The match between FaZe and MOUZ in the Group A upper-bracket semi-final kicked off with FaZe taking the pistol round on T-side Overpass and following it up all the way to a 3-0 lead. It didn’t take Chris "chrisJ" de Jong & co. to get even, though, as both teams struggled to maintain the economic advantage. At 4-4, Tomáš "oskar" Šťastný had a strong hold on the A-site with one AWP and two Desert Eagle frags to get his team on the lead. It wasn’t enough for MOUZ, though, as FaZe were then able to run away with a 10-5 lead at the switch after Ladislav "GuardiaN" Kovács clutched a 1vs1 against chrisJ in the closing round of the half.
GuardiaN and Nikola "NiKo" Kovač then had two kills each on the pistol round, but MOUZ didn’t give up home and took the forcebuy, following it up with two anti-ecos to bring it to 8-11. It was quickly becoming MOUZ’ match, who brought it back to 11-11 and had the momentum on their side, but a quad-kill by Richard "Xizt" Landström kept his team in the lead at a crucial moment. FaZe then brought it to 13-11. At 13-13, MOUZ lost a 2vs2 clutch but the bomb still went off as NiKo tried to defuse, giving them the lead and putting FaZe in an eco. Håvard "rain" Nygaard & co. then won a round on B, which they followed up to take the first map, 16-14.
On Mirage it was MOUZ who started out ahead, winning the T-side pistol round, but FaZe were quick to bring it back, tying it up at 3-3 after getting their hands on proper arms. MOUZ then put a fourth on the board, but that was as far as they would go on their map pick as FaZe kicked it into gear with an on-fire rain who had 109 ADR after 20 rounds were up and his team closed it out 16-4.

Cache, Sharks’ pick, started out going the way of the favorites, Cloud9, who were able to take the CT-side pistol round, although the Brazilian team were quick to get on the board, winning the third and fourth round to tie it up. Cloud9 then took the lead, winning some crucial rounds to keep their economy afloat, but a strong four rounds by the Terrorists late in the half gave Sharks the slightest of leads before switching sides.
Veteran Renato "nak" Nakano then got three kills in the pistol round to keep Sharks in the lead, but two triples by Tarik "tarik" Celik and William "RUSH" Wierzba early in the second half got Cloud9 back in the lead, 11-9. The half then went back-and-forth with both teams fighting every round all the way to a 15-15 tie beckoned by a triple AWP kill by Tyler "Skadoodle" Latham in the last round. After two arduous overtimes, it was Sharks coming out on top with nak and Raphael "exit" Lacerda closing it out, 22-20, taking out two each on the A site.
Cloud9’s pick, Mirage, started once again in the way of the North American side, who were able to win the CT pistol round, but an A plant with a double kill clutch by Leonardo "leo_drk" Oliveira as the bomb ticked down gave the Brazilians the equalizer. Sharks quickly took the lead, 5-2, but were then completely overrun by Cloud9, who put up a wall and took the half without giving another round up, 10-5.
On the Terrorist side, Cloud9 kept the rhythm up, winning the pistol round and the following anti-ecos, making it 13-5. A big three-kill round by exit then got his team on the board once again, but Cloud9 quickly regained control, resetting the Brazilians, who were able to put up a fight but not enough to bring the 8 round deficit back. Ultimately, Cloud9 brought it to the decider, closing Mirage out 16-13.
The decider, Inferno, saw Cloud9 take the lead for the third time in the series, winning the T-side pistol round and the anti-ecos. The North American team then went on a complete rampage, decimating the Brazilian side ten rounds in a row before nak & co. could reply with a round of their own. Cloud9 quickly put an end to that, as a triple by Timothy "autimatic" Ta gave his team the round, resetting the CTs and clearing the way for a 14-1 half. The North American side then closed it out winning the pistol and against Sharks’s forcebuy, 16-1.
