AZK leaves Torqued

Kevin "AZK" Larivière has decided to part ways with Torqued, the Canadian player has revealed.

The 27-year-old wrote in a Twitlonger post that he has decided "to pursue opportunities elsewhere" after learning that he was going to be benched on the North American roster.

AZK aims to improve as a player while in search for a new home

Keven "⁠AZK⁠" Lariviere's departure comes just days after Braxton "⁠swag⁠" Pierce decided to part ways with the team, who had recently returned from DreamHack Open Tours. It was still in France, AZK adds, that he discovered that he would not be playing at the upcoming ESL One Belo Horizonte event and in the new ESEA season.

“After taking some time to reflect on everything that has happened, I've decided to leave Torqued to pursue opportunities elsewhere," the Canadian player wrote.

"I will still be playing CS:GO actively and I'll be working every day on trying to improve as a player.

“I wanted to finish by saying that there's no bad blood between us and I sincerely wish the best of luck to all of the guys on Torqued."

Torqued are now down to just three members, with a limited window to find two replacements for the upcoming ESL Belo Horizonte event in Brazil, which will run from June 13-17.

With AZK's exit, Torqued now have:

ESL One events are streamed on twitch if I'm not mistaken, so there won't be viewership issues. It's only Pro League and IEM that is on Facebook. Plus viewership has been great for StarSeries, Dreamhack, ECS and the Major. So in general, viewership isn't an issue.

Only if valve decides to lift their ban from valve-sponsored events, including the majors. Still, why would they even kick out rush? I can understand auti, but not rush as he synchronizes so well with tarik. They are currently the heart of C9. AZK is past his prime (whereas in my honest opinion, he wasn't even the X-Factor of iBP), so maybe taking out auti for swag/nahtE might be a good option as they still have a long journey ahead of them. As for the IGL, it might sound really bad but I'm sorry to say that FNS isn't just the right man to lead the team, so yeah -FNS as well. I'd totally love to see C9 with these lineup: - Skadoodle - tarik - RUSH - swag/nahtE (for auti) - nitr0 (for FNS)

brax, koosta, and steel were the only good players on this team. Pollo was very inconsistent. and now that brax is gone this team is done. Honestly wish AZK left sooner as i feel he is the reason they lost so many games. And as a result made brax feel that he could do better somewhere else. Honestly dont Know how much they practice as a team but god damn it i saw so much potential in most of this team. This makes me upset. but now i feel steel has a chance to get some young talent into this team and do better with them. not some 27 year old.

Couldn't imagine Torqued breaking the top 20 anywhen so whatever but if AZK was to be benched who the hell is slated to join? Can't think of any player available that would be a clear upgrade over him, and it's not like Torqued have money to poach a big name from an already established team. Keeping steel (or even the others) at the same time makes zero sense. They'd be better starting from scratch with youngsters.
