FaZe to ECS playoffs over G2

FaZe have secured their place at the ECS Season 5 Finals playoffs after defeating G2 2-0 in the Group B decider match (16-9 on Inferno and 16-10 on Mirage).

The best-of-three Group B decider game between FaZe and G2 kicked off on Inferno where the CT-sided French team won the pistol round. FaZe won the following round by bomb detonation despite Kenny "⁠kennyS⁠" Schrub's ace (1-1).

Nikola "⁠NiKo⁠" Kovač's team were leading 3-1 when kennyS showed up once again, this time winning the round with a triple kill (3-2). However, FaZe picked up six of the following seven rounds to lead 9-3. kennyS got a quad kill in a 2vs4 in the 14th round as his team trailed 9-5. FaZe won the first half 10-5 after Jorgen "⁠cromen⁠" Robertsen's opening kill brought them the last round victory.

FaZe are through to the playoffs

Over on the T-side G2 secured the first four rounds to come within one round of FaZe (10-9). Kévin "⁠Ex6TenZ⁠" Droolans & co. were unable to tie up the game as FaZe won six rounds in a row to close out the map 16-9.

On Mirage, G2 started on the T-side and won the first three rounds. Finn "⁠karrigan⁠" Andersen got triple kills in two consecutive rounds to give FaZe two rounds but G2 didn't let them tie up the game, winning the sixth round and leading 4-2. FaZe responded by winning seven rounds in a row and managed to win the half 10-5.

FaZe continued their dominance on the T-side to pick up the pistol round victory. Ladislav "⁠GuardiaN⁠" Kovács & co. won four more rounds to acquire ten match and series points (15-5). They closed out the game 16-10 and advanced to the playoffs at ECS Season 5 Finals.

As expected, G2 has no enough heavyhitters. SmithZz may be a smart guy, but having him in same team with Ex6 and bodyy has no excuse and no good outcome. bodyy may be a pretty decent all-arounder, but having him means SmithZz should be much better than he actually is at fragging, otherwise they will get raped by any good enough team, e.g. Astralis. Ex6 might be a decent tactician, but it's not hard to overstrat a FaZe, still without enough firepower strats mean nothing. And having him along with SmithZz and shox, both of whom regard themselves good callers and thus try to impose their views on Ex6 will likely make G2 a mess in which 3 guys try to call and someone will get mad that it doesn't work, just like it always happens to shox' teams, in the end they will kick Ex6, because shox loves SmithZz too much. SmithZz, bodyy, Ex6TenZ 1-by-1 are not the biggest problems, them combined in the same team is the biggest problem. On the other hand, FaZe is also a mess whose style is "we have madfraggers, they will do the job, otherwise we will lose to fucking NRG". It's sad that Astralis has no real contender, it's even worse than it was in 2012 with NiP dominating.

SmithZz and Ex6TenZ these 2 man who people thought they will play badly but they actually play pretty well for themselves at least, SmithZz on rifle almost suprised me, he almost does not have a mistake peeking with others, it’s bodyy made a lot mistake on mirage and those are key for G2, not like the bodyy in the previous we saw, but just give them some time and let them proof.

don't agree though. no matter how good tactically they become, they will struggle in having a decent firepower to fight against the best. it's not 2014 anymore so you have kennys and shox being the best players in the world, it's 2018. for me, it was a mistake kicking apex from the team, i would rather have him instead of smithzz in current G2 and then they might be good to fight against the best. shox and kenny will not simply carry others all the time, they need one more constant fragger tbh.

Navi is winning tournaments/playing finals with zeus and edward Sure they have s1mple and electronic, but kenny and shox arent that far from them See smithzz as edward: a nice guy who plays only plays for the team, not for himself, he keeps the spirits up and he has a shit ton of experience Its much better for the team then tilters like scream/apex who are better at aiming for heads but care about the team aspect that much

The thing is, s1mple is the best player in the world, and electronic has been on fire lately. You can't say the same thing about shox and kenny, as they're not in the best of form right now. Also, bodyy is extremely lackluster as of late, and not better than flamie. ScreaM was the 9th best player of 2016 when he was on g2, so yes, he can definitely be a team player when paired with shox. I'm not saying remove smithzz from his boyfriend shox, but maybe put him as coach, and add a better french player who can really help g2 in terms of firepower. Also, there's a reason why everyone is saying for Navi to kick edward, as he brings the overall ceiling of the team down.

Problem is, Ex6 and Smithzz are already relatively old (28-29) and while they will definitely play better after serious training, they're past their peak as individual players. I'm not saying they'll be constantly bottom fragging, Ex6 did put up some good numbers vs FaZe, but they won't be that reliable versus raw aimers like SK, FaZe or s1mple. Even though they have shoxie, for the past year he's not really been performing too well.

Dude ur so stupid, Ex6TenZ good? He is most likely the best IGL ever second only to fallen in somes eyes. Shox and KennyS are 2 of the top 5 players to ever touch the game. Shox and kenntS can both easily take down any team when they enter god mode. SmithZz has to be in the team for moral support to help Shox as there is a continuous pattern of Shox loooing confidence and SmithZz helping him get back to prime. Body is a great all round player who is slowly blosiming. This team is a dream team u can’t make a team of just stars. It will just take a bit longer with an IGL like Ex6TenZ just look at all his previous Titan lineups...

Astralis, FaZe, Na`Vi, mouz, SK (MIBR), Liquid etc. And name the percentage of semi-finals of big events (250k+) G2 will make this year, e.g. they will get to 50% of big events' semis. I want to know what you think their achievements will be this year. Don't forget: 56 days passed between G2 announced NBK's IGLing and his last offline match that you all regarded a failure, meaning 56 days is enough to build a team that's able to beat at least mousesports. you could see from cameras during the game, they were in front and 4 guys laughing, giggling about smth and u can see shox just sitting thinking with his eyes closed wth is going on.. i think some pause happnd few rounds later and then they lost, shox will not achieve what he wants with those guys, he should start thinking about international team
