ENCE finish off NiP; Astralis clinch playoff berth in Cologne

ENCE have eliminated NiP with a 2-0 victory while Astralis beat Cloud9 with the same scoreline to secure a playoff berth at ESL One Cologne.

One of the first best-of-three games at ESL One Cologne featured Ninjas in Pyjamas and ENCE who squared off for their tournament lives in the Group A lower bracket. The game kicked off on Inferno—ENCE's map pick.

Jani "⁠Aerial⁠" Jussila secured the pistol round for his CT-sided team with a quad-kill and ENCE made it 4-0 after winning two anti-ecos and the first weapon round. Ninjas in Pyjamas responded in the fifth round with CZ75s but the Swedes were reset after losing the following round (5-1).

ENCE had an impressive performance against NiP

Aleksi "⁠allu⁠" Jalli & company ended the first half with an 11-4 lead and secured the second half pistol round after finding three opening kills. ENCE closed out the first map with a 16-6 victory.

Patrik "⁠f0rest⁠" Lindberg's team started Train on the T-side and won the pistol round. However, ENCE hit back with seven rounds in a row with their strong defense and went on to win the half 13-2.

ENCE won the map 16-2 and took the series 2-0 to stay alive in the tournament. Ninjas in Pyjamas, on the other hand, exited the tournament after winning a total of 11 rounds in three maps.

Astralis faced Cloud9 in the Group A upper bracket semi-final which started on Mirage with Astralis on the CT-side. The Danes picked up the first two rounds but Cloud9's early buy in the third round worked, giving the North Americans their first round of the game (2-1).

Astralis were unfazed, grabbing eleven more rounds in the first half and leading 13-2 at halftime. Cloud9 had a hopeful start to the second half as they secured ten of the first eleven rounds and trailed 14-12. Astralis avoided a possible comeback and won the map 16-12.

Astralis beat Cloud9 in two maps

Andreas "⁠Xyp9x⁠" Højsleth opened up Overpass with a triple kill in the pistol round, giving the CT-sided Astralis the 1-0 lead. Nicolai "⁠device⁠" Reedtz & company made it 4-0 with the first weapon round victory and won a 3vs5 in the fifth round to extend their lead to 5-0.

Astralis had an easy time of it on Overpass which they secured 16-1. After winning the series, they have secured a place in the playoffs. However, the Danes will play one more match in the group against the winner of MOUZ vs. G2 to determine which team directly advances to the semis and which one starts from the quarter-finals. On the other hand, Cloud9 has gone down to the lower bracket.

So many years in top 5, this is his year for top 1 the way he's playing literally no one is at his level, it's really too bad for him though since Astralis smashes everyone he isn't getting enough rounds per game to really boost his stats to the maximum, way harder to get your rating up playing less than 20 rounds per map than other players who always playing close to 30.

No it doesn't and this guy is sharing stats with Magisk, Dupreeh who are both playing insanely good this year, even gla1ve and xyp3x can frag out when needed. s1mple is playing with electronic who imo is easily top 5 in 2018 and one of the smartest players in the world right now, his rotations alone are godlike, he reads the game at such a high level it's insane. IDK about you but if you ever played a 30 round game it's extremely easy to have 30-40 frags, not so easy in a 16-3 win when you have to share the map with 4 of the best players in the world and all of Astralis players will be top 20 this year without a doubt but only Device will be top 1.

If you're a good player and your team sucks it's very easy to have good stats in long games you see it everytime look at s1mple in the last match against C9, his team is trash they barely got past C9 but his stats are insane because he played almost 60 rounds in 2 maps if those games were short his stats are much lower.

You are suggesting that it's easier to get a high rating in a long game than it is in a short game (that the rating depends of the number of rounds), which simply isn't true. Of course your kills will be higher, but ratings don't take the absolute amount of frags into account. It's worse for your rating to play 30 rounds and get 30 kills than it is to play 16 rounds and get 20 kills.

The problem is easy to solve in NIP. Youngsters Plopski and Brollan 16 yo monsters. Try them out and you will see what im talking about

They need a real IGL like golden, and yep at least 1 young prospect f0rest and GR getting old and look washed up when they play a good team, even C9 smashed them and look what just happened to C9

That is true THREAT era was promising even with the old players, this is just depressing I feel bad for Sweden but its been years in the making, they used to be great because the game was more about synergy and individual skill Now we have massive amount of analytical support for teams, and a new generation of aimstars.. kids who are pro mousers and their bodies have grown around them playing mouse games etc, you see kids like ropz, brollan and many more are coming

What a bunch of mumbo jumbo. Sweden is not as great in CS anymore because everybody caught up that's all nothing more nothing less. The game is pretty much skillcapped since 10 years ago(obviously with an adjustment period when GO came). The game is just about having confidence and synergy. An off day can mean that you lose vs players way inferior because everybody can shoot hard when they are in the zone.
