Natus Vincere edge out Cloud9

Natus Vincere have eliminated Cloud9 from ESL One Cologne after a close two-map series (Inferno 16-14, Overpass 16-12) in Group A's lower bracket semi-final.

The series kicked off on Inferno, the choice of Cloud9, who also got off to the better start after securing the pistol round as Terrorists. The first gunrounds went the way of Na`Vi, who defended the A bombsite twice while Oleksandr "⁠s1mple⁠" Kostyliev clutched a 1v1, which led to a 5-3 scoreline. The two sides proceeded to trade rounds towards the end of the half, with Natus Vincere securing four more for a 9-6 halftime score on the defense.

The American side equalized things with the second pistol round win, but they once again faltered against full buys, as s1mple & co. powered to map point with six out of the next seven rounds. The match wasn't over just yet, as Tarik "⁠tarik⁠" Celik stepped up with nine kills including an ace over the next four rounds, but Na`Vi stopped the comeback attempt in the 30th round as s1mple found a triple in a B attack while Danylo "⁠Zeus⁠" Teslenko clutched the final 1v1.

Na`Vi will take on ENCE for a place in the quarter-finals

Na`Vi chose Overpass to follow and picked up a 4-1 lead as Terrorists despite losing the second-round antiforcebuy to Timothy "⁠autimatic⁠" Ta's triple. No one could keep their momentum for the next seven rounds, as the two teams could string a maximum of two together before the other replied, with each team securing a 1v1 clutch and an eco round. At 7-5, Natus Vincere decided to opt for three A attacks in a row, with Egor "⁠flamie⁠" Vasilyev and s1mple each grabbing a triple on the way to a 10-5 lead on the offense.

Cloud9 began mounting the comeback after autimatic clutched a 1v2 in the pistol round while William "⁠RUSH⁠" Wierzba fended off a scary second-round forcebuy with a 1v1 clutch. Na`Vi won their first round in the half in the first full buy, but Cloud9 didn't let them gain momentum as autimatic destroyed his opponents with a single AK-47 in a half-buy round.

That, alongside another 1v2 clutch, that time from tarik up against a low buy, leveled the score at 11-11. Zeus replied with a 1v2 clutch of his own to retake the lead, but Cloud9 kept things even after the following round. The North American side fell to a forcebuy in the next, however, as s1mple grabbed a triple with a saved AWP, inspiring his team to secure map two and the series at 16-12, 2-0.

Only teams not from NA I can think of that can compete at this level are Space Soldiers and OpTic. Also I would understand this comment if you are talking about Cloud9 but talking like this about all of NA is just rediculous. Tea Liquid has been a very good team with consistency issues and other teams like NRG have shown they have potential against top tier teams

In 2014 kennyS was consistently dropping 30 frags a game playing with shit teams until he finally got in Titan literally solo carrying tier 3 and 4 French teams to tier 1 and people had same reaction to s1mple now, kennyS had the highest peak ever they literally nerfed the awp because of him don't even talk shit about him. 1st paragraph no he doesn't he's just a good awper getting stats against shit teams and unstable rosters, same level as he's always been but teams & players are way lower level than past years and rating 2.0 doesn't hurt either can get crazy #s since they added so many stats that weren't in the previous rating 1.0. You could drop 50+ on a single map in rating 1.0 and still have a lower rating than someone dropping 30 on rating 2.0, another reason why all good players stats are way higher look at Krimz for an example. When the scene stabilizes I bet he will drop off, when teams actually have a stable 5 man lineup and start playing at the level they should be he will drop off, this is a small period where the scene is so weak it's just so easy for him to farm stats same goes for a lot of other players atm. I always say it's really shit that Astralis hit this level when the scene is so low, this team could of done damage in any era in this form, but it's somewhat tarnished by having only garbage teams to play against it makes them look 10x better than they actually are but that level is still good enough to beat any team in their prime imo.

Yeah it was awesome actually he had insane stats and it literally did nothing for Na'vi against Astralis, I actually got those demos to rewatch the games because it's insane how they're the only team that knows how to handle s1mple so easily, they just force him into situations where his frags have no impact on the outcome of the round, he's going to frag everyone knows that but they understand if he's just putting up #s but it has no effect on them losing the round it doesn't actually matter.
