Cloud9 turn to Golden for ELEAGUE Premier - Report

Cloud9 are expected to field fnatic backup member Maikil "⁠Golden⁠" Selim at ELEAGUE Premier, according to a report from Flickshot.fr.

The Swedish player has been earmarked as a stand-in for the North American event as Cloud9 seek a replacement for Tarik "⁠tarik⁠" Celik, who is believed to be on the brink of joining MIBR, as initially reported by DBLTAP.

Golden has been on the lookout for a new challenge since being ousted from fnatic's starting line-up to make way for William "⁠draken⁠" Sundin, who was signed from Ninjas in Pyjamas.

Golden is expected to lead Cloud9 in Atlanta

The 24-year-old, who led fnatic to victories at IEM Katowice and at the WESG Finals, will not be Cloud9's only stand-in at the event, however, as the team will continue to field MOUZ' Martin "⁠STYKO⁠" Styk, who made his first appearance for the current Major champions at ESL One Cologne.

ELEAGUE Premier will run from July 21-29 at the G-FUEL Arena, in Atlanta, with eight teams vying for their share of a $1 million prize pool.

Whatever Golden can do, FNS can do better. FNS has been playing at a high level longer than Golden has. Golden achieved more because he had fucking JW, flusha, and Krimz. No, all you need to do is compare results. Before dennis that team won a major that year. He was a good IGL but his players were at their peak. Now look at where Fnatic were before golden. They were dead in the water. Golden consistantly improved their results and managed to get them their first win in 2 years. Before gla1ve astralis couldn’t get out of quarters and semis, when gla1ve joined they won a major. It’s all about comparison and improvement

Yeah? First couple of events, fnatic weren't doing very well with Golden. But they stuck with him and let him do his thing. fnatic were willing to listen to Golden because they were humbled. They certainly had him more than a month. Same with gla1ve C9 literally ousted FNS after one month. How could he bring them back when he didn't even have the time to? The players showed a willingness to not listen to him. You can be a good ingame leader but your tactics mean nothing when the team isn't willing to listen.

Yeah I completely agree, I hate C9 personally but I think kicking FNS in that fashion was one of the shittiest things they’ve done. They literally said that they wouldn’t let him restructure the team and so he essentially led like Tarik but with different mid round calls. It’s so pathetic imo that a team aren’t willing to compromise and adapt to a new leader and says a lot about the team imo. It goes to show the difference in mindset between EU, BR, and NA. fnatic were a team that were doing shit. They literally got an ingame leader that, by my definition of Golden having never played in a top team before, or on the top level, was worse than FNS. But they were whole hearted in their pickup and they gave him the time he needed. C9 had arguably a better ingame leader in that FNS had been going to top lans for years with worse players and doing what he could with them, but they couldnt tolerate not immediately winning. SK went from winning fucking majors to bombing out at WESG, yet they are showing a willingness to work with Stewie and do EVERYTHING before kicking him. There is a vast contrast of mentality that makes BR and EU more successful than NA

Here is my lineup FNS autimatic Skadoodle RUSH young NA MDL player (motm, Zellsis, Infinite, TenZ) T side will be primarily rifles and the occassional AWP by Skadoodle if absolutely necessary. RUSH + whatever young NA MDL player they get will be the first in entries. On CT side, Skadoodle can primary AWP while autimatic secondary AWPs.

Liquid just has too many players of the same role and an IGL with too much on his plate it was destined to fail but they were saved by NAF and elige both turning on the jets at the same time now theyve kinda leveled out and we see the results. SK should have just brought in young talent from furia And kept their solid communication now they have so many things changing at once it's hard for players to adapt that quickly and fallen has dropped off because hes trying to manage too many things at once. C9 obviously needs time but how much time is too much it's been 6 months since we've seen any success from them and the constant changing of IGLs isnt cohesive to success especially when these IGLs have such different stylistic approaches. This roster needs to show obvious improvement in the next 3 months or they should just scrap it and start from scratch.

tbh i gotta give huge pop ups for nitro for all he did but imo elige is overrated idk how relevant talents are if they're having problems as a team with the chemistry etc, also we all knew that taco was the huge reason why cold played godlike for me, when they added rush and tarik that roster was destined for the disaster they won the major idk how and it was legit win, but i never saw the real structure in them, just firepower

I dont think hes over rated hes definitely a top 5 rifler in NA and deserves to be on one of the top teams and probably has a peak higher than any NA player I cant think of anyone else. They just need a real IGL with strucute to let their stars shine. The chemistry issues came from losing synergy due to switching languages and integrating another aggressive player which they already had enough of. Cold is still playing like the best BR player and having a player to enable him isnt a negative thing. C9 really is an anomaly they just played out or their God damn minds that final everyone did. That was their absolute peak and it seems that its unreplicable.

imo Stewie(before he became shit couple of months ago), Autimatic, Naf without a doubt beat Elige, then you have Twist who is somewhat equal to elige maybe better maybe equal they're around the same level, and you have plenty of players in lower ranked teams who are infact good.. (sick, ethan, breeze..) point being is that elige is easily replaceable, its just the fact that those guys are not really competing on the top tier scene for a long time so others don't consider them as some contenders

point being, regardless of which team you make, the roles and the positions which he's going to play will force him to perform bad even if its one player... because certain players are focsed on the fragging and certain on the supporting etc.. its also depending a lot on the in game leader etc etc

Boy, the whole roster changes across NA and EU regions. Fun to watch. Golden to C9 is not a bad idea. He can frag and IGL. Not great at either roles but good enough. STYKO on the other hand is too inconsistent. Cologne was a bad show by him as well. Not sure what C9 expects from him for long term. Skadoodle is also inconsistent. Having 2 players in the same team with up and down performances. Not sure how they can win anything ever again.

The only way Golden and Styko work is if they drop Ska and bring in a Cerq esque talent and that talent actually pans out which can't happen until after the major anyway. The funny thing was when C9 originally tripped up after the major they were still smacking SK around. SK was the one who took the really huge tumble. That's why it's so shocking for a lot of C9 fans I think. Regardless I'll try to have a little faith in management and see if they can get anything done during the summer break (NRG players) or after the major.

It's true FNS has never won anything, although Golden had 3 major winners on his team with many majors between them. So you could say golden had an easier job than fns winning tournaments. When there is a language barrier + they don't personally know GOLDEN from before I believe this can have a positive effect respect and gameplaywise. Styko is a mad teamplayer, golden good ingame leader, and ska is also good support. Rush and Auti can frag af. top 6 max this year but i believe they can achieve top 4 some tournaments if this lineup stays. :)

Fnatic players said about the difference in motivation with golden then with Xizt and motivation is what c9 needs, Autimatic said his motivation was at an all time low since Stewie2k was always hyping him up.
