FaZe beat G2 in two maps; to New Champions Stage

FaZe won Mirage 16-2 and Dust2 25-22 over G2 to solidify their playoff attendance with a 3-2 record in the Swiss group stage.

A triple by Håvard "⁠rain⁠" Nygaard in the pistol round kicked off Mirage, FaZe’s map pick, going his team’s way. An A execute after winning both anti-ecos then kept the European combine in the lead as Alexandre "⁠bodyy⁠" Pianaro, G2’s last player alive, saved an AWP. Quickly, FaZe started to run away with the map as they won round after round. With 8-0 on the board Finn "⁠karrigan⁠" Andersen and Olof "⁠olofmeister⁠" Kajbjer added insult to injury by winning a 2vs4 to keep the streak going. Finally, it was in the eleventh round that G2 were able to get on the board off of the back of a quick kill in a push by Richard "⁠shox⁠" Papillon and a triple by Kenny "⁠kennyS⁠" Schrub with the AWP. olofmeister then won a 1vs1 against bodyy on A after planting the bomb before G2 got another round thanks to a three kill round by shox. That would be the last round for G2 as FaZe would go out to close the half 13-2.

The second half started with a B play by the French-Belgian team, but Nikola "⁠NiKo⁠" Kovač stopped them in their tracks with a triple as olofmeister picked two up. FaZe then stopped a B push in apartments to get on map point before closing it out 16-2 in dominant fashion after winning the last round against a pistol buy.

G2 started their map pick ahead, stopping a B push from FaZe in the pistol round to get ahead early. After losing the two following rounds, FaZe were able to get on their feet winning the first pistol round. After following it up, FaZe found themselves within one of tying the match up but Edouard "⁠SmithZz⁠" Dubourdeaux and kennyS with the double AWP setup were able to keep their team ahead, 4-2. G2 then stopped another B push to shut FaZe down. The French-Belgian team then took the reins of the match, going on a roll for an 8-2 lead after ten rounds. It was then after a play on A that FaZe were able to get back on the board to try and stay in the game. FaZe were then able to win two out of the last three rounds to put a cushion on the scoreboard, 10-5.

G2 rushed B and after planting, were able to close the round out as shox found two late headshots to get closer to the third map. Down 5-13 FaZe pulled out the double AWP, but to no avail as G2 overtook the A site players to increase their lead to nine rounds. The European combine then won a clean round by stopping pushes on Short and Middle and were able to follow it up, but were then put against the ropes as G2 got on map point. FaZe then gained control of the half, winning round after round including against a two-man fake by kennyS and shox who went to different bomb sites that almost gave them the map. Like a rolling stone, FaZe made it all the way to 15-15 after winning eight rounds in a row to kick it into overtime.

G2 will miss the playoffs of the Major in London

G2 got a two-for-one trade on A, but a triple by rain on site and a double by olofmeister stopped the French-Belgian side on their tracks. G2 then found themselves in a 2vs3 afterplant on A, which kennyS and shox were able to close out to keep it tied. G2 then followed it up, hitting A with a strong presence from Short to make it 17-16. FaZe then replied, winning the first round on the Terrorist side to tie it back up, 17-17, but a clean round by Kévin "⁠Ex6TenZ⁠" Droolans & co. got them back on map point. FaZe then rushed B and planted in a 4vs4, pushing it to a second overtime after defending the site.

The two teams then traded rounds to kick next round of OT, making it 19-19, before FaZe took the lead into the CT side. G2 then tied it up with an A strike, and took the lead after taking B and winning a 3vs3 afterplant. G2 then had the perfect opportunity in a 4vs3 afterplant, but a great retake by karrigan and rain sent it to a third overtime.

G2 took the lead on the Terrorist side, but FaZe were able to strike back to make it 22-22 and then a double-kill by rain in a 2vs2 retake got FaZe ahead at the half. An aggressive play by G2 then failed, giving FaZe a 24-22 lead and map point which NiKo & co. would go on to convert to make it into the playoffs.

Nice play on dust2, the map FaZe won only once with olofm - against OpTic, and lost 3 times - to fnatic, mousesports and BIG days ago. kennyS and bodyy must be really happy that they got rid of NBK and apEX to be very much enjoying wasting their time with shox and his buttfriends. I'm sure if not NBK, then kioShiMa would be much more effective at calling than that washed up Belgian. And it's not like Ex6TenZ has called any smart strat yet, he has shown literally nothing both as an IGL and a player, HUNDEN would not be worse than Ex6TenZ has been all that time. Whom to blame for that? Ex6TenZ? If somebody picked a guy with no legs to play on his soccer team - you do not blame the legless guy, you blame the one that picked him. It's shox that brought those two bots to G2 - the first one to be a support player and the second one to call his "brilliant" strats that have not been working for 4 straight years already. I have just one question: how many more months should they suck to unblind Ocelote? If he can't gather a tier1 team - then why to have a team at all? Or was he inspired by Virtus.Pro sucking for so long? shox definitely must be inspired by VP, he mentioned VP as a good example of players being interchangeable at their roles, it was at the beginning of 2017 when he decided to kick RpK & ScreaM. Yeah, VP is a great example of a dead team that sticks together with no good reason, G2 is exactly like VP now, except VP has no world-class players while G2 has at least kennyS and shox.

What is that logic? shox as a person has always been a problem for his teams, that's why Ex6TenZ couldn't keep him in VeryGames for more than a year, shox joined LDLC and guess what - he tried to kick Happy, NBK declined that, shox got kicked, they picked kennyS & apEX and won another major. shox as a player is very useful, but his decision-making on lineups and his own roles is retarded, that's why there was no successful lineup he was a part of for more than a year. Looks like you trust the analysts by default, and I have my own eyes to watch matches and my own brain to analyze them, and my knowledge is enough to see that G2 has neither eough firepower nor any tactics to utilize at least what they have. I have a suspicion that shox might be made Ex6TenZ his bitch and Ex6TenZ only calls what shox & SmithZz made up during praccs, but in the end G2 plays like a bunch of silvers in terms of both individual and team performances, if you need an analyst telling you that to see that - it's your choice.

Despite Faze's cries of victory at the end of Dust 2 their T side sucked and their CT side was not too much better. And also G2 didn't know what to do most of the time, so this victory doesn't really bode well for Faze in this championship.

Ex6TenZ is such a great guy and a team player and a workaholic. He doesn't have an entry-fragger, so what does he do? Instead of forcing his teammates to entry first, like Happy did with shox and k1oshima, he sacrificed himself, went first almost every round, died almost evertime because he's not used to do that, and put his teammates in position for the trades. A classic example of a leader, a captain. SmithZz must be really practicing well. He's a decent support player and his aim was on point on d2, with some insane frags, especially the one from lower tunnel to short. Can also pick up a double AWP and, while i don't like him to, because he's not really good with it, he can give shox all the freedom he wants to play as he wishes. KennyS has been out of shape in a long time, but he seems to be finding his form again, having fast reactions. I kinda like what i saw. Shox... Wasn't in his natural position. He was the last to go in the site, instead of lurking by himself, which was what bodyy was doing. I think that's because they're obviously wanting to kick bodyy and so they won't let him know the advanced tactics they're working on. And bodyy is the problem. Playing a star role had no impact at all, screwed shox's performance by taking his spot and Ex6TenZ for not entrying. He didn't accept this project because he doesn't fit in this team. They probably wanted him to entry-frag and he refused. So, as he doesn't accept this project, get rid of him. And thus starts the search for an entry-fragger. RpK is the most obvious choice, even tho him betraying Ex6 for Happy must be a deal breaker. Let's see who they bring in. This is a relatively new roster, so we can be expecting great things to happen. This team will be insane with some time, because their roles actually fit, unlike most teams, they'll have a great tactical approach to the game and SmithZz proved that not only shox and Kenny can frag. With a good entry-fragger, they can have 4 players that could all carry the team in any map against any team. I'm pissed they're out, and will have to qualify for the next major, but it's an opportunity for them to know something is missing and to actually work on it, and I'm sure it's only going to make them better. #GoG2

I hear apex, nbk and happy wanted him to make a team with them, but G2 has a better purchase power than any org that gets that roster and he wouldn't turn them down if they approached him. Let's wait for the end of the major, there will probably be some changes in teams rosters, it's a common thing to happen xD

Well, Ex6TenZ has always been a man of huge gambles in young upcoming players, so I wouldn't be surprised if he brought in Alex (really good player) or devoduvek, whoever wants to entry-frag. Then again, he can go the experienced route and get in ScreaM, but i think that would be a huge mistake, because ScreaM is tactically similar to bodyy, and doesn't want to entry-frag nowadays...

yeah i mean there probably isnt a solution in french scene without having some kind of problem :D people are not going well with each other , but i feel like that team should be able to play on a level which is required for T1 cs, but we wont really know untill it will really happen
