Gambit send Na`Vi packing at ESL One New York

Gambit are through to the playoffs at ESL One New York after defeating Natus Vincere on two maps (16-11 on Nuke, 16-14 on Inferno).

On their opponents' map pick, Nuke, Natus Vincere started things off on the right foot as Terrorists, with Oleksandr "s1mple" Kostyliev and Ioann "Edward" Sukhariev turning a 3v5 situation around with a triple and a double-kill, respectively. The Ukrainians followed that up with the anti-ecos, but they could not prevent Gambit from winning the first gun round.

Still, Natus Vincere further added to their lead in the next three rounds to make it 6-1, before Gambit went on a three-round streak of their own. After that, the teams kept trading rounds, with Na`Vi taking a 9-6 lead into the second half.

After the break, it was Gambit who came out the brighter, securing the pistol round and the subsequent anti-ecos. It was only in the 22nd round that Natus Vincere got back on the board, but, just like on the first day of the tournament, they simply could not stop Gambit's executions, with the Kazakh losing just one more round before locking down the map at 16-11.

mou had an impressive performance throughout the series

Next up was Inferno, which kicked off with Natus Vincere picking up their Terrorist pistol. However, Gambit immediately countered them with a successful force-buy, which they followed up with one more round. s1mple then came up huge with three Deagle headshots, helping his team to restore parity at 2-2.

Natus Vincere won the next two rounds fairly easily, but Gambit responded with three of their own to take the lea at 5-4. Danylo "Zeus" Teslenko called a tactical pause, which inspired his team to win four rounds in a row – one of those thanks to a 1v3 post-plant clutch from s1mple. The final two rounds of the half then went to Gambit, who reduced the deficit to 7-8 by winning the last two rounds of the half.

Now playing on the CT side, Natus Vincere bagged an 11-7 lead after winning the second pistol and the following anti-ecos, but then Gambit equalized the score with a four-round streak. Na`Vi won the subsequent round on a shoddy buy, but Rustem "mou" Telepov pulled off two clutch rounds to give his team a 13-12 lead and break the Ukrainians' economy.

After building up their bank, Natus Vincere still levelled the score, 14-14, but Gambit had their eyes set on the playoffs, and remained calm and collected to seal the deal in the 30th round.

Finally Thorin was right - about current top10 being the weakest ever. I mean, what the fuck? FaZe lost to G2&NRG, Na`Vi lost to Gambit twice, Gambit lost to shitty mousesports, only Liquid and MIBR look OK but Astralis still has no problems winning left right and center, it's like there is a top1 team and a bunch of trashpiles, now it's pretty much the same as in 2012 when there was NiP and there were several teams that couldn't do shit and only competed against each other, then finally VeryGames got shox and Russian Virtus.Pro turned out being strong, then fnatic picked olofm and KRiMZ, but until then it was a game that you always knew who would win, now it's the same, Astralis dominates, Na`Vi and all the rest struggle. It's not interesting anymore, it's like "ok let's find out how much of a rape it will be in the final when Astralis wins it again". Who can possibly fix that? Does anybody believe in Vitality? I don't, they have Happy (no matter he's not calling) and RpK (he was solid but not anymore).

No... they were only a major semifinalist and once again a legend... people dont like the team, but you guys will have to swallow it... back to 4th in the rank along with the other 3 major semifinalists... soon to get back to the top again after some more work!

I think they are a very shaky team that completely depends on s1mple... and i also think they will soon have a roster change (-edward) because of thr same reason... it seems the other players (except electronic) are there just to fill in.

MIBR is looking OK in a way there's a structure, navi have only simple and eletronic, you can maybe put zeus on that for his igl skills.. flamie too inconsistent ( the most in the game rn) and Edward is TOO bad, he needs to leave, navi is not ok because it's not reaching what it can reach

That's about it. Edward is clearly an anchor. Zeus not that good also but has its merits on IGL. Na'vi depends so much on s1mple and electronic. The rest are not at the same page.

Eh id say it's more like Astralis #1, Liquid #2 and then a bunch of mixed up teams. The last time Liquid lost to a team that wasnt Astralis was July 4th, nearly 3 months ago.

So, you feel sorry for the teams that cannot play tactically, i.e. all the teams other than Astralis? I see no problem with that. Astralis put a lot of thought into developing strats while all other teams stuck in the CS 1.6 era and it shows. Liquid is the only team which seemingly wants to reach the same level of play but they don't have a good dedicated AWPer.

Well, go f off, if you believe that Astralis is "boring". Try winning against them. They are not boring. They are playing perfect CS:GO. Also, calling teams names is the lowest and meanest you could do, so I guess next time I'll just ignore such "insightful" comments.

Olof isnt a support lmao. Hes a lurker on Faze hes almost always alone and catching rotates, they dont have a support and dont need one with that style. Supports benefit tactical teams by having great assistive utility usage, being passive, and allowing stars to shine. Olof does none of that. Olof is is no way a supportive element of anything he takes resources not feeds them. If they even had a support it would be rain he entry/supports by playing small sites and weaker spots on CT sides. Xyp krimz taco

it seems the scene is slowly dying, the game has been stagnant for a while now, it needs a major update, a sequel, new meta, anything

So, we no longer have flukes and we have a team which has more or less solved the game and suddenly the scene is "dying"? Dying of what? Of being unable to play like Astralis does? Comments like yours have become extremely boring. It looks like every silver noob here wants flukes, hero plays, great clutches, huge upsets every major but that will just suck 'cause you'll never know which teams are actually good and the whole ranking system will just suck since it'll be completely random.

''more or less solved the game'' it's because of this, changes in the game are too slow so it's possible for a team to break the game like they did Dota for example changes its meta frequently, so teams always have to adapt to changes, thats what makes it a good team IMO, whereas good teams in csgo ( only astralis rn) only have to do the same thing everytime because that's the only good option u feel me, which makes their games boring, same shit everytime

If u look at all team astralis went up against, the team they went up against the most is FaZe, and the current head to head win is 25-19, by stating "if navi couldnt win astralis, nobody could win astralis" prove that u are a delusional kid, washup nip manage to pull out from 3 overtime against astralis recently, liquid as well , and 3months ago ppl were debating whether it was astralis era,but during iem sydney they got 0-3 by faze in a bo5...., so stop being delusional and think that navi is the only one that can win astralis, navi is nothing without simple and electronic

First map faze was leading but astralis did a comeback but faze close it out, second map astralis was leading but faze did a comeback and close it out, third map was a joke for astralis ,leading 10-0 but lose 14-16 to faze, yes i respected astralis for playing well, but astralis fans should know that astralis was leading for 2 maps but in the end faze make a comeback, stop saying both maps are close without knowing who is leading in both maps

Kay i'm outta here. You clearly have no grasp on the subject at hand and have no thorough understanding of mutual exclusivity. If you said that they aren't mutually exclusive, then that means that the one could exist with the other also existing. You clearly can't understand what i was saying. Having the superior educational program but failing to grasp a simple concept must be frustrating huh.

Hes right. Nowadays there is Astralis and the rest(bad or struggling teams). Astralis doesnt have any star player (like simple, niko, coldzera) but their teamplay is far superior than any other team. I hope other teams will start to improve / stop choking for the sake of the good counter strike.

NaVi turned out to be a big organization in eSports industry (since those Arbalet days) and their cs players don't hold any ownership. ZeroGravity was like the owner the whole time. Meanwhile HellRaisers is basically a cs organization only.

honestly, he is IGL, if Edward wasn't even worse than the IGL as a fulltime rifler, Zeus would have better stats too and the team would do better. Zeus needs to do better too but with riflers like Edward playing like this there is no chance

Zeus is the lesser of the problems... Even being an average rifler, his IGL skills are one unarguably good. - Navi reached #2 in the world with him before he was dropped. - Then he goes to Gambit, revamp the way Overpass is played and win a major. - He comes back to Navi and instantly makes the team a real contender of tournaments. Edward on the other hand... EDIT: wrong quote, should have quoted #61 lul

exactly, plus flamie is the most inconsistent player in the scene rn, edward sucks so bad as well, navi can do much better than this
2018-09-28 20:27

exactly, Zeus has his flaws but when Edward is just awful, and flamie is either good or awful but when he is off its 2v5 or 3v5...then it highlights Zeus and makes him look worse....if everyone frags and the team wins it is OK for IGL to be negative k/d but when they lose it looks worse for Zeus, maybe 2018 is the year they change players I heard after major they would make 1 or 2 changes.

B1ad3 MVP Yeah NaVi must be drained and not at best but the change in Gambit in a short time and how clean the teamwork is, huge props to B1ad3 wd now all we need is CIS superteam to hire him and Astralis era will be on a time limit. Given time a CIS superteam with B1ad3 could be the best ever ? Who would you choose ? s1mple electronic h0bbit mir ANGEL ? ADREN ? chopper ? even jR and put simple on rifle ? lots of possibilities hope they come together as a region lol.. would be shit hot

s1mple on rifle/second AWP, electronic - huge carry, chopper - hot af B-site defender, jR - main AWP and IGL, 5th player is flamie/hobbit, idk :) That would be the most powerful CiS beasteam who could deal even with ASStralis
