Official: Vitality unveil team

Vitality have formally announced their expansion into CS:GO with the signing of a French roster headlined by three former Major champions.

The team feature the core of the Envy roster that won DreamHack Open Cluj-Napoca 2015, with Dan "⁠apEX⁠" Madesclaire and Nathan "⁠NBK-⁠" Schmitt signing from G2, while Vincent "⁠Happy⁠" Schopenhauer has been brought in on a free transfer.

Cédric "⁠RpK⁠" Guipouy, who was also a free agent, and ex-aAa prodigy Mathieu "⁠ZywOo⁠" Herbaut round out the roster, which has been competing online under the name Waterboys.

Happy and RpK reunite in Vitality

The French team have already secured a spot in the knockout stages of the GG.BET Shuffle IEM Chicago Qualifier after beating 3DMAX and Spirit (twice) in the group stage of the tournament.

The announcement represents Vitality's first foray into Counter-Strike. Founded in August 2013, the French organisation boasts teams competing in multiple games, though they are mostly known for their League of Legends squad, who are attending the 2018 World Championship, in South Korea.

According to a recent report from ESPN, Vitality have been accepted as a franchise partner for the European League of Legends Championship Series (EU LCS) - a move that will cost the organisation a fee in the region of $9 million.

They're tier 2 all day long, like you said "bar zywoo" who so far is their best player and at the same time has the highest potential to improve. Most t1 teams arent even special compared to astralis right now they could definitely take out some "elite teams" faze navi mouz all pretty random right now. North adapting, mibr improving but not that scary yet.

Sure I agree with all of that. T3 might have been too rough but T2 is too kind. No chance in hell they will compete with teams like Liquid, FaZe, Mouse, etc, other actual T2 teams. And it seems like this is exactly how they wanted the team to be seeing as how this was the initial rumored roster from the start so I doubt happy would have any reason to be stubborn, if he is it will be noticed and he will potentially be kicked but you're purely speculating that he will be toxic on this lineup. Also keep in mind zywoo isnt a pure AWPer he likes to rifle A LOT which could leave room for happy to AWP

He wasnt "a lot" better he was slightly better because less was required of him because scream and shox were playing like top 10 players in the world. By that logic I could go say "go watch happy in 2014-2015" when he was a top 10 player. Happy clearly has a higher peak. Bodyy is a very mediocre player that adds very little to top tier teams besides taking roles that no one else wants and playing them at a lackluster level.

Bodyy is very good at filling in gaps like you said and can still continue to perform well, Sorta like NBK and Kio i suppose, But with NBK calling and Happy being too stubborn to fill he will take spots away from the ''stars'' of this lineup because of his ego, Happy has never been a leader to get the best out of his players and he certainly wouldn't be the player to, Happy would just take roles and bait too much and wouldn't benefit the team, Bodyy could out perform Happy by just filling in the gaps and being an unselfish player

"Continue to perform well" He isn't performing well now, he has similar stats to smitthz and has a much better role. Happy being too stubborn to fill in gaps isnt an issue when you have apex who will ALWAYS entry and is great at it and rpk who can play as a supportive element/2nd entry along with NBK who has always been a support. If anything you would want to replace happy with a strong rifler or hybrid player (which is what he was at his peak) so that zywoo can be a star rifle/mid round player. Not sure what that last sentence means, the entire point is that he isnt calling and therefore isnt expected to get anything out of the other players, that is now NBKs job. Happy's role is to finish out rounds with zywoo.

Well Bodyy isn't playing amazing but he doesn't fit at all in g2, NBK hasn't always been support he's literally done almost every role in this entire game lol, ZywOo will main AWP this roster, Don't need another hybrid

And how does he fit more into Vitality over happy? They already have all the supportive elements in check. If you compare it to G2 its really not that different. Ex6/NBK - supportive passive IGLs Rpk/smitthz - very sacrificial players sometimes 2nd entry Apex/shox - high fragging players Zywoo/Kenny- stars and both pretty aggressive NBK has been a support the majority of his career and at the peaks of his career he was a support. He has lurked and I stated that but besides that he hasnt ever been a main entry or secondary AWPer despite being very good with the scout historically and just recently decided he wanted to IGL. Most IGLs however do normally play a supportive element on their teams though anyway. Either way the point was that he is a very competent support player and therefore happy doesnt need to fill in gaps. Zywoo main AWPing is the exact reason that a hybrid would be good to have alongside him? How is that a hard concept? If zywoo wants to rifle let him rifle and have your hybrid player AWP, happy can AWP if needed, bodyy cant. If he wants to AWP give him the AWP and happy or whoever can rifle. Please tell me how bodyy adds to this team?

SmithZz entry? LUL G2 needs an aggressive player, Ideally ScreaM or apEX but ScreaM looks the best option personality wise, Shox is better being more passive, Clutch, Lurking and trading, Don't want him entrying unless it's with ScreaM tbh, Ideally replacing SmithZz for ScreaM would be the go to and Ex6TenZ and Bodyy can just be supportive but of course all this bullshit with SmithZz needing to be there gets in the way and puts Bodyy on the chopping table, NBK was a main AWPer in CSS, You obviously don't know NBK if you don't at least know that much ... So in other words you want a hybrid that is willing to do whatever role (AWP/rifle) on demand depending on ZywOo's mood? That certainly isn't Happy LMFAO, Bodyy is much more of a team player than Happy, Is willing to do dirty work and can still perform to a decent level while doing them, Down the line i already know Happy is going to cause problems and is going to demand more spots and take away from the stars

Yes smitthz has been entrying a lot, that's actually how they beat navi at cologne, he had a ton of entries and a good amount of them onto s1mple. Obviously he hasnt done that every game but hes been entrying a decent amount. Yes that's exactly what I want and why not? It's not up to happy if he gets to rifle or AWP and if hes stubborn about it then just kick him and get a talent from 3dmax or amanek/devo. You dont need another team player for this lineup. You need a versatile player that can help close out rounds and potentially 2nd AWP. I laughed at the fact that you brought up CSS as a relevant point about a lineup being created over 5 years into the next edition of the game. When he hasnt been the primary AWPer on a SINGLE lineup during CSGO You saying "I already know" is just being extremely well stubborn and refusing to accept the possibility that happy will play differently now that he isnt calling which could very likely be the case for a multitude of factors most of which I've already listed.

You clearly havent watched any of their games, NBK isnt going to allow him to just sit on the other side of the map and bait, happy knows how to lurk and NBK does too and is going to make sure happy is lurking properly, and so far that has been true in their officials. Theres no gaps for bodyy to fill. They have an entry a 2nd entry/support and a very supportive IGL. Bodyy literally adds nothing to the team besides being a mediocre passive rifler which at this point is not what they need

Theres a lot of ''NBK will make him do this or NBK will make him do that'' Have you forgotten NBK isn't an established in game leader with no previous success calling trying to change how Happy plays the game? It isn't going to be that easy, Won't last at all, Would rather apEX and RpK being the entry force with ZywOo just main AWPing, From there NBK and Bodyy can be support / passive players, You can't really be an entry and a support at the same time for RpK's sake

Have you forgotten NBK is also the kingmaker of the French scene and wont hesitate to have that taken from him? If happy doesnt listen and NBK decides to remove him his career is essentially over. If you have bodyy instead in this role than you have 3 pretty weak fraggers on the team since NBK is weakened by calling and rpk is older so you're basically in the same boat as g2 relying on 2 players heavily fragging. At least with happy you have the chance of playmaking, the opportunity to awp/double awp, more experience, and some help with calling if NBK needs it. You do realize there are two sides of the map right? He can 2nd entry on T side and take lesser spots on CT. Also not every round always goes according to plan RPK has always been a sacrificial player especially in mid round situations and will help his stars excel.

Don't ever try to say Happy is a strong fragger, He was calling with any role he wanted and was still lackluster, That's long gone and never was really a consistent thing, At least Bodyy is young and can develop, T is more of an issue with this lineup, Most maps / teams CT is doable no matter what lineup of aggressive / passive players you have, Under normal circumstances of course

Uhh... but hes shown to be a strong fragger at multiple points in his career and the level he "fell" to is the highest level bodyy has ever been at. Happy has a much higher peak than bodyy it's not even debatable Bodyy has had almost 3 years now to "develop" hes an uninspiring, boring, very medicore player that adds very little to a tier 1 team. Their t side roles are fine as I've stated before. You have an entry, 2nd entry/support, support, AWP and lurker. They have a great mix of roles atm. All bodyy does is make it less likely that they win clutch situations and weaken their double awp possibilities

He was predictable while calling and lurking on nV because it was clear he was trying to call around himself due to a mix of things such as a weaker AWPer and entry players. While not leading he can definitely be an effective piece if set up properly where as bodyy is a player that is known for literally nothing. Hes not that supportive nades wise, cant entry, cant 2nd awp, doesnt really clutch. If happy's lurking is still just as excessive and poorly executed as it was when they were on nV then it's clear that he has no motivation to improve on it but from the matches theyve played so far that doesnt seem to be the case

Not really, 3 legendary players, kennyS best awper, shox well rounded player and legendary IGL Ex6TenZ, all proven great players of their own against unproven on higher tier scene ZyWoo, subpart entry player from RpK, man-child apEX and NBK good player, I'll say that and Happy, whom had better days of LDLC and early EnVyUs; Same time I will say, I hope that Vitality will do well.
