The second open qualifier for the Europe Minor reached it's last-eight stage last night, with several prominent teams still in the race for a spot.

The first open qualifier came to an end last Tuesday with Sprout and Fragsters surviving a 250+-team single-elimination bracket to earn spots in the closed qualifier.

Among the teams still in the running for a chance to earn a spot from the second qualifiers are teams like Red Reserve, Imperial and Oscar "⁠mixwell⁠" Cañellas's Movistar Riders.

The last eight squads of the second EU Minor open qualifier are:

DreamHack Winter qualifier winners x6tence Galaxy, French duo LDLC and Vitality, and Polish side AGO were some of the other big-name sides trying their luck in the second open bracket, but were all eliminated along the way.

22:30 - Vitality stunned by Tempo Storm

Vitality, one of the favourites to reach the final, failed to make it to the Round of 16 after being defeated by Tempo Storm 7-16 on Inferno in a one-sided affair.

22:20 - LeftOut lose battle of the mixes

Adil "⁠ScreaM⁠" Benrlitom's LeftOut are out of the qualifier in the Round of 64 after losing to cats, Nikola "⁠Lobanjica⁠" Mijomanović's team, 17-19 on Cache.

21:30 - Round of 32 kicks off

AGO are the first big-name side to be eliminated from the qualifier after losing to Fierce 9-16 on Dust2.

20:00 - Most favorites are prevailing, AGO in trouble

The favorites are on the right track in the second qualifier, as everyone who has finished their matches has made it to round three at the very least, with Valiance, Giants, Tempo Storm already through to round four.

However, AGO are in trouble in round two, as they're currently down 5-10 against Fierce on Dust2.

I had a lot of feedback during 1st open qual, that people had issues finding the channels covering the games. Which is why I'm trying to encourage HLTV to help out with that. Because, at the end of the day, it's not about getting more viewers, it's about more people knowing where to watch the games, if they want to.

In the EU minor LAN, all teams are probably top 50 and half are top 30. NA Minor, as you said, 1 or 2 top 50 teams, maybe 2-3 more top 100 teams, rest are total nonamers.

Gambit, AVANGAR, Spirit are decent teams (all ranked around #30) and then you have teams that can upset like pro100 (added YEKINDAR who is best Latvian player along with Flarich), starix's UnderPressure, reformed Winstrike (Flipsid3/Winstrike mix). There's a lot of question marks in Qualifier for NA Minor: Ghost will be playing without steel so who knows how good they will be. Swole is also playing without swag. eUnited recently switched IGL to FNS (removed ACE). Rogue switched IGL to MSL. NRG is the only clear favourite that tips the scale towards NA.

they kind of increased EU spots. since they took away 0-3 challenger invites (mousesports and qbf) 2 extra spots are given for 3rd minor placements. so high chance EU and either CIS or NA take these 2 spots. though even if they moved say baltics to cis, turkey to asia EU would still be op as fuck. I wish they atleast combined all minors (like challenger stage) considering they will be playing in same place anyway.

didn't look who's facing who but in my opinion in terms of strength: 1-2. LDLC / Windigo (recently added good awper and were already a good team) 3. 3DMAX (really good online) 4. Vitality (inconsistent but a lot of firepower) 5. Imperial (inconsistent but a lot of firepower) 6. Leftout (just added krystal in place of xms, maybe will be less braindead) 7. Red Reserve (recent changes) 8. AGO (recent changes, I think toao was their IGL and he got removed) 9. attax 10. It's horrendous the most interesting matches to watch outside of the major itself. Teams actually prepare good cs for these qualifiers. The quality of cs I so much better then any other tournament with lower tier teams, even more interesting then f. e.x epicenter. And it's not even broadcasted. How can you build a storyline and get hype for the major if every qualifier is treated worse then t4 tournaments
