Liquid take down G2; BIG fend off comeback from INTZ at EPL Finals

In the second set of matches in Odense, Liquid had no trouble taking Nuke 16-8 over G2, while BIG won Train 16-10 after a valiant comeback effort from INTZ.

In the second Group A match, the SuperNova CS:GO Malta winners Liquid took on G2, who are fielding their old lineup with Edouard "SmithZz" Dubourdeaux and Kévin "Ex6TenZ" Droolans still on the roster, before the pair is permanently replaced by Audric "JACKZ" Jug and Lucas "Lucky" Chastang. The Belgian managed a triple-kill to net his side the first pistol round win, with G2 quickly cruising ahead to a 3-0 lead after an anti-eco and a succesful retake by Richard "shox" Papillon and Kenny "kennyS" Schrub.

nitr0 and co. had no trouble with G2 in their EPL Finals opener

The two ostracized players in G2 looked fired up, in spite of them not practicing with the team since the official change, as SmithZz and Ex6TenZ put the Frenchmen on 5-0 with multi-kills for each, before Liquid could respond with a single round. G2 then turned a shoddy buy into a sixth round win, as shox took down three with the MP9 on the A retake.

Nick "nitr0" Cannella's men then rallied back, as the North Americans won four rounds in a row to reach five in total. The French won the next, but Liquid kept marching on on the T-side to first level out the score and then take the lead 8-7 at halftime.

Now on the defensive, Jonathan "EliGE" Jablonowski and co. won the pistol round, but couldn't stop Alexandre "bodyy" Pianaro from planting the bomb, which prompted G2 to buy up in the second round of the half. This wouldn't help the French, though, as Keith "NAF" Markovic and Epitacio "TACO" de Melo each got two kills in the third to win it and put their side on 10. Liquid gave G2 no respite for the remainder of the match, as they only conceded a single additional round to win Nuke 16-8.

Meanwhile, INTZ went up against BIG on Train, where the Brazilians won the first pistol round as CTs, but were trampled by the German opposition in the following, with Owen "smooya" Butterfield getting a Deagle double-kill and Tizian "tiziaN" Feldbusch taking down three with his Glock-18. The two would repeat the feat in the third, but with the amount of kills for each player switched up, to put their team on a 2-1 lead.

The Germans secured two more rounds, which both featured a triple-kill by their in-game leader Fatih "gob b" Dayik, before João "felps" Vasconcellos and co. took their own pair to reduce the deficit to one. INTZ won one more round to reach four, but BIG completely regained control and won the remaining rounds in the half to comfortably lead 10-5 at the switch.

gob b managed an impressive 1.33 rating against INTZ

Johannes "tabseN" Wodarz and co. also won the second pistol round, with the 23-year-old getting a double kill, before taking the next two lead 12-5.

INTZ then rallied back, as the Brazilian side won five in a row to reach double digits, with Marcelo "chelo" Cespedes managing several multi-kill rounds along the way. In the end, though, they couldn’t complete the comeback, as gob b killed three in the 24th round to retake the reins, BIG winning the final two in a row to finally secure Train 16-10.
