ViCi upset Cloud9; Winstrike surpass NiP in Katowice

ViCi and Winstrike have successfully made it to the 2-1 club of the New Challengers stage following victories over Cloud9 and Ninjas in Pyjamas, respectively.

A triple kill from Andrew "kaze" Khong kicked off ViCi's CT side performance on a positive note, landing the Chinese side the first pistol of Inferno. The underdogs were efficient in their efforts to push back the offense, as Cloud9 were only able to sporadically secure rounds over the entire first half, struggling greatly to further their position on the aggression. Difficulties persisted for Cloud9, allowing for a commanding 11-4 half in favour of ViCi.

ViCi successfully bested their North American adversaries

Success was seen for Cloud9 in the second pistol, however the team was economically reset after a pistol-buy A hit from ViCi marked disaster for the North American representatives. An economy in tatters meant that the opportunistic ViCi were able to extend their lead to map point at a 15-6 surplus. Cloud9 managed to claw a single round in their favour, only for a B hit in round 21 to put Inferno to bed, as another upset was seen at 16-6 for ViCi.

Winstrike's CT side kicked off to a successful start, as the Russian squad secured the first pistol round on Train after an aggressive push from Kirill "Boombl4" Mikhailov revealed Ninjas in Pyjamas's intentions. Having established themselves financially, the CTs proceeded to shut down the terrorists' advances with consistency, falling in all but two rounds in the earlier stages of the map. Aurimas "Kvik" Kvakšys proved to be pivotal in his team's success in round 13, punishing unfortunate bomb positioning, as well as securing a 4k. The momentum kept rolling for Winstrike, producing a 12-3 CT half for the Russian side.

Against the odds Boombl4 led his men to a 2-1 record

The Swedes kept themselves in the match after switching over to the defence, fending off a fast A hit from Winstrike, albeit after the Ts secured a bomb plant. A couple additional rounds were accrued by Ninjas in Pyjamas, immediately succeeded by economic struggles as a result of a reset. This proved fatal for the match-up favourites, as they fell in four consecutive rounds, dropping to the 1-2 pool following 6-16 loss.

This Asian aggro Cs is really throwing C9’s passive slow offense off and they just don’t know how to play against the Asian teams just yet

3/4 of them weren’t upset particularly. G2 was expected to not make it through the qualifier. C9 always either plays to the level of their opponents or gets smashed in. NiP is super inconsistent. The real surprise was Fnatic being the #1 seed and getting beat by the two worst teams on paper at the event.

actually any "random" in drawing is not random at all, you can . so what he said is possible but I won't think about that, just let our boys play some good cs and have fun.

No surprise from a China fan. 1) Think everything is fake/controlled- 2) Read, its by seeding not "random draw" Anyway, Wp Freeman.

Lol idk if you’re trolling or what, but the seeding was meant for ViCi to face harder opponents, because they were seen as the worst team at the tournament. And anyways, there’s a reason why Chinese teams could be hated in LoL. They leak scrim results. The Chinese community persecuted EDG for not sharing scrim results once at Worlds. The Chinese community is full of shitters that threaten the lives out of their own pros. But on the other hand, players such as Rookie, MLXG, and doinb are lovable.

Okay so Mr Carmac said ELO will change throughout the course of the tournament especially after round 3- his words not mine if beating the #1 seed and #3 seed dont increase your ELO i dont know what else lets see if Vici plays the highest seed available AGAIN in Round 4

Cloud9 played so predictably it wasn't even funny. By the time C9 was ready to hit a site Vici had already read the play and were prepared for everything they threw at them. C9 has said that Flusha's calling style suits their play style better but I think Golden's is more unpredictable and less telegraphed. Moral of the story is pls bring Golden back
