Rogue win ECS S7 NA Week 1 to book finals spot

Rogue are the first North American team confirmed at the ECS Season 7 Finals after topping the week 1 tournament over Complexity.

There were plenty of upsets across the board in the first week of action in ECS in North America, the biggest of which was the early elimination of Liquid against Rogue, who were ranked 19th in the region heading into this single-elimination tournament.

Mathias "MSL" Lauridsen's troops proceeded to down Luminosity 2-0 in a straightforward affair, setting up a final clash against Complexity, who survived a three-map series with eUnited before beating NRG 2-0 to spoil Tarik "tarik" Celik's debut for the cs_summit 3 and Americas Minor champions.

MSL's Rogue qualify for the ECS Season 7 Finals

The grand final began with a dominant showing from Complexity on Nuke, where Peter "stanislaw" Jarguz's men showed a solid Terrorist side, which allowed them to take control of proceedings from the get-go.

Rogue responded in a keenly-contested Overpass game to take the series to Inferno, which turned out to be the most chaotic of the three maps. MSL's side led an 8-2 lead slip and lost control of the game in the second half following a sloppy approach to an anti-eco round, but they still managed to recover from 12-15 down to force overtime, in which they would eventually come out victorious.

ECS S7 North America week 1 final standings:

1. United States Rogue - $12,000 + spot at season finals
2. North America Complexity - $5,000
3-4. United States NRG - $2,500
3-4. Brazil Luminosity - $2,500
5-8. United States Liquid - $750
5-8. Brazil INTZ - $750
5-8. United States eUnited - $750
5-8. United States Spacestation - $750

This result comes as a much-needed boost for Rogue, who have not been to a LAN event since the ESL Pro League Season 8 relegation tournament, in December. Later this month, the North American side will be attending StarSeries i-League Season 7, their first event with Nikolaj "niko" Kristensen.

Rogue join Astralis, the winner of week 1 in Europe, on the list of participants for the ECS Season 7 Finals, which will be held from June 6-9 in London. The week 2 and week 3 champions will also secure direct entry into the $500,000 British event, while the fourth regional team will be determined by the amount of prize money earned during the course of the regular season.

I really can't take that talentless Wh1mp benched MSL. They win DH Master Stockholm, even with Astralis in the finals. MSL becomes MVP. They choke at the major - that happens for every team. They even kicked Niko who they won the event with. And look at him in this nice form again. Wh1mp is really the reason for North is so shit. I could go on forever. They kicked k0nfig - the only decent playing dude in optic. Every fucking time, Wh1mp kicks the best players for what? Cadian? HE IS AN IDIOT AND SHOULD NOT BE IN ESPORTS!!! Thank you for reading my rage post <3 good night.

Hey my man. Nice to see you still support OG even in these times where results are lacking. I disagree with you about the benching. You could really see they needed change tactically. DH Stockholm was a bit lucky due to all the other teams not performing well, and I say that as a North fan. Really happy to get that trophy but it was a matter of timing. Right now it doesn't look any better with cadian. Something is just wrong. They need confidence and better frags. I don't know what the solutions is other than maybe lower the expectations and let them grow some joy and confidence. I don't think you can blame WHIMP for anything. After all he's the one spreading most joy and ambition. Goodnight to you too, and take a chill before you call somebody an idiot. :-)

He kicked their 3 best players, and he have been there for what? 12-18 months? DH Stockholm was not lucky. It was a tactically carry by MSLGOD. One of the only IGL who can keep up their stats while playing Just listen to thorin, machine, alex all of the others. Wh1mp is the problem. But yes great spirit and smiles - no sense of what he is doin tho. Wh1mp = K1ck

1. Not true 2. You think only the players decide ? 3. They didn't keep Niko because they wanted an entry fragger, and gade was still under contract with them. Don't spread bullshit.
