Windigo 2-0 G2, advance to WESG grand final

Windigo have joined AGO in the grand final of WESG after beating G2 2-0 (Cache 19-17, Overpass 16-7).

The second semi-final began on Cache, which started with the two sides trading blows, as Valentin "⁠poizon⁠" Vasilev gave Windigo the pistol round with a 1v2 clutch, with G2 replying in the third round with pistols to crush their opponents' bank and take a 4-2 lead.

The 16-year-old put up another multikill in the seventh round, in which the Bulgarians were on a low buy with mostly upgraded pistols, closing the deficit to one. However, the Frenchmen still ended up running away with the half, answering in the eighth round and stringing together the remaining seven for a dominant, 12-3 CT side.

Windigo needed the pistol round to stay alive and they took it on the back of doubles from Kamen "⁠bubble⁠" Kostadinov and Viktor "⁠v1c7oR⁠" Dyankov to close the gap to five, but G2 came out on top of the first couple of gunrounds to reach their 14th. The match was far from over, though, because a few close retakes on both bombsites saw Georgi "⁠SHiPZ⁠" Grigorov & co. begin mounting a comeback while Richard "⁠shox⁠" Papillon's men couldn't find a way to finish off the map.

Windigo ended up stringing eight rounds in a row to lock map point, but G2 secured the last round after picking apart their opponents to take the opening map to overtime. There, the Bulgarians finished what they had started at the end of regulation, grabbing two rounds on each half to win their opponents' pick 19-17.

Overpass followed with Lucas "⁠Lucky⁠" Chastang and Audric "⁠JACKZ⁠" Jug starting things off with a couple of doubles, giving G2 a 2-0 lead early on the CT side. But when the gunrounds started, Windigo had the upper hand with four in a row, soon extending their lead to 6-3 after breaking their opponents in the seventh round. The French side answered with one as JACKZ's double helped stall the clock, but they got reset once more, which helped the Bulgarians secure nine rounds on the offense.

By that point SHiPZ had already racked up over 20 kills, and when the sides switched he continued his rampage with two triples over the course of the first three rounds and he added another in one of the first gunrounds, pushing Windigo through to the grand final with a 37-11 K-D in the 16-7 victory.
