NRG through to Pro League Finals after three-way tie in Americas Group A

NRG have booked their spot in the ESL Pro League Season 9 Finals after topping Group A of the Americas division.

The final day of Group A began with a mouth-watering clash between the two highest-ranked teams in contention as Renegades locked horns with NRG in a three-map series that began with an amazing comeback from the Australian side, who put in a flawless CT side display on Mirage to overturn a 3-12 deficit without losing a single round in the second half.

NRG through to the finals in Montpellier

NRG replied with a hard-fought victory on Train, where Tarik "tarik" Celik topped the scoreboard with a 1.42 rating, but a reverse sweep was not to happen as Renegades ran riot on Inferno with stand-in Owen "smooya" Butterfield leading the charge (1.77 rating, 111 ADR).

After that match, eUnited and INTZ took the stage, with the Brazilians still looking for their first map win after losing the first two matches 0-2. Gustavo "yel" Knittel's troops acquitted themselves well on Mirage and were in the lead for large portions of the game, but eUnited picked up the pace in the final stages to run out 16-13 victors.

eUnited will move on to the second group stage

The North American team carried their momentum into the following map, Overpass, and hit match point at 15-5. INTZ still tried to mount a comeback, but their resistance was finally broken seven rounds later.

Why not E-united ? , I think it's not Fair for a three-way tie to have a direct qualifier to the finals

That's because NRG won more maps (they lost to Renegades 1-2 while the other 2 teams had 0-2 losses). But not having that shown in the ranking makes it confusing.

it is no different than other sports, there is nothing unfair here, sure it sucks for NRG and RNG but that is the way it goes.

Yah i know , but the problem that here it's not one group, we have 4 groups and if it happens again it won't be beautiful to watch especially for the fans. Anyway that how it's going on ...

If this is the case, then i missed it so it's my fault, but what if the map wins were even for all, since it's not impossible?

Eunited had best rd, while nrg played most md thats why they went through. If rng just didnt have two standins first game, things might would have been different. But who bothers.

welp they could play different format in groups of 4 like that wiinner and winner and loser vs loser after game 1 and no bad ties potential but i think they wanna make teams play all each other in groups for marketing purposes

That's so stupid, what was the point of renegades and EU even playing... Round difference is whack. Even more whack considering renegades beat the team that made it through in BO3.

It wasn't round difference, but map difference between the three teams. Round difference between the three was the next criterion

This is how you know people do not even know the rules of this format. A lot of people are saying round difference and that was not the decider. It was map difference, so essentially, train against RNG got NRG into the playoffs
