NRG confirmed at ESL One Cologne

NRG have received a direct invite to ESL One Cologne 2019, the event's organisers have announced.

Tarik "⁠tarik⁠" Celik and company are the 11th team to be invited to the German event, which will be held at the Lanxess Arena from July 2-7 and will have $300,000 on offer.

The North American side, who are currently 11th in the rankings, recently finished in 3rd-4th place at IEM Sydney, falling to eventual runners-up, fnatic, 2-1 in the semi-finals.

NRG will attend ESL One Cologne 2019

With the addition of NRG to the ESL One Cologne team list, only one invite remains. The final four spots will be awarded to the leading sides of the regional qualifiers held in Europe, Asia, and North America.

the order to reveal is rando except the first 2(1st & 2nd place last event), its to add extra tension because just invite #3-12 from HLTV / another ranking list is boring AF, and who knows maybe TL declined the invite for whatever reasons.

Unlike OWL or IRL sports, clubs aren't region-locked, and hence, can participate in anything they want, creating importance to the entire scene, not just a Specific tournament. Bro, anything above Blast Pro and the Dreamhack Open events, is equally important, cuz that helps decide invites to the Minor Qualifiers, and invites to other events. This is because of the concept of the open circuit. If you don't wanna give it importance, it's up to you, but, clearly all team/event sponsors and tournament organisers keep a close watch on ALL events for a particular team. And well, the Leagues, such as ECS, EPL and MDL are very important, as they are the stepping stones for all teams to reach the top of the scene. Ignoring the leagues is a mistake.

G2 has shown Promise in EPL, C9, not so much. Still, C9 and G2 both have pretty awesome branding and popularity across the globe ( G2 having rosters across RL and R6, C9 being literally everywhere ), so I'm not so sure on this one. Also, ESL might just throw a Curveball on us and Invite some team from nowhere. You never know. Like, IDK, North or OpTic. I know, sounds crazy, but, just saying.

the major starts end of August and I expect most teams wanna have at least 3 weeks of practice b4 that and 3-4 weeks of break. So the break should start around Cologne.
