NEO joins FaZe

FaZe have completed the addition of Filip "⁠NEO⁠" Kubski to their roster, which sees Dauren "⁠AdreN⁠" Kystaubayev depart, the organization has announced on social media.

The announcement states that NEO is taking on a role of a substitute, but upon further clarification, Nikola "⁠NiKo⁠" Kovač confirmed to HLTV.org that the Pole is currently undergoing a trial period in the European squad.

The veteran will also take on in-game leadership within the team, a role FaZe had been looking to fill ever since the departure of Finn "⁠karrigan⁠" Andersen at the end of 2018, which saw NiKo take over the duties for the following six-month period.

FaZe have found their new in-game leader in NEO

NEO returns to activity after a six-month break from competition, which started upon his release from Virtus.pro in December. His online debut with FaZe will be up against his former team in ECS Season 7 Week 4, and his first LAN event with the new team is set to be DreamHack Masters Dallas, kicking off on May 28.

With the change, the team are saying goodbye to AdreN, who had been signed at the beginning of 2019 for a period that was originally supposed to last until the end of the IEM Katowice Major, but the Kazakh ended up extending his stay for two more months as FaZe were looking for the right fit in the IGL position.

The European side had mixed results with the 29-year-old, grabbing two titles at ELEAGUE Invitational and BLAST Pro Series Miami and finishing outside of the playoffs at tournaments such as StarSeries i-League Season 7 and IEM Sydney.

FaZe's roster now looks as follows:

To some level they do but you can't always play wherever you would like, it is a team based game. And someone who has enough of a game knowledge will be able to set them up in the comfortable spots but keeping in mind how this positions are going to affect each other. Also sometimes you don't know what's best for you, someone has to tell you and then you realize you were doing it wrong all along.

Yeah, but just because NiKo messed with their heads showing how much he didn't believe in karrigan anymore. You know, when the best worker at your job tells you your boss knows nothing, your attitude towards your boss starts changing a bit everytime, you lose your faith that what your boss tells you is the right way of doing stuff, and when you don't believe that you will succeed at what you do - the possibility of you to fail at it increases. So thank NiKo, the guy thought he would do a better job than karrigan had done, but instead he only made it worse, and now they are desperately looking for an IGL while all the best ones are not free. And Neo? May be stop living in the past? He was great in the past, but his ideas got outdated and he failed to keep up with new tendencies. You may say the same about gob b for example, because a really good IGL manages to win over a team of higher skill just by smart calls. pronax is also a good example. Ex6TenZ is not, because he sucked everytime, and that mental block versus NiP was just nuts.

I think people should finally understand that even a really good IGL cannot make a miracle happen just by calling well. There are teams that have just lower ceiling. I mean, Astralis without Magisk did not look any dominant, they were just one of T1 teams, they needed all the right pieces. gla1ve is not a magician, the same goes for FalleN - his LG/SK was pretty dominant but that internal tension between him and coldzera fucked them in the ass. As for karrigan - I believe FaZe is just not a balanced enough team roles-wise, that's why no FalleN nor gla1ve could ever make them as good as let's say Astralis is or SK was in 2016-17. A team should have both a good IGL and a balanced lineup, FaZe is not balanced at all, it's a team of fraggers that try to give up some of their "run'n'gun" strength for the sake of the team, and they fail at that. I mean, with or without karrigan, they would have never achieved anything great.

I only think of -rain +SuNny on the position of entry, because when rain has a bad day he's just absent, and a team with no good entry has a little to no chance to win T rounds. But I've no idea who could be their good IGL and their good support player. Xyp9x is just unique at that, MIBR got TACO and he's noticeably worse as a fragger. And all good IGLs are already contracted to their orgs. Not sure FaZe could improve at all.

they have a lot of inconsistent players, there is like niko who has 9/10 good games and there is rain who has 2/10 and others close to rain, there is no who you can count of when there is no niko playin, sometimes guardian misses the shots and they lose bcz of it, olof is sometime not hitting, always otherrs betteeeeeer
