NiP defeat AVANGAR; lead ECS S7 Europe standings

Ninjas in Pyjamas won ECS week 4 over AVANGAR in three hard-fought maps, Dust2 (19-16), Train (17-19), and Inferno (16-10), to take the lead in the standings.

AVANGAR won the first round over Ninjas in Pyjamas cleanly on the defending side of Dust2. It was finally on the fifth round with an A play that the Swedes were able to get on the board, which they were able to follow-up before AVANGAR made it 5-2. Ninjas in Pyjamas then went on a five-round streak to take the lead, eventually going on to close the half out 9-6.

Ninjas in Pyjamas then won the defending pistol round, but AVANGAR won a forcebuy as Fredrik "REZ" Sterner was unable to defuse in time after killing the last Terrorist on the A site. The match then evened out as the first map of the best-of-three started to get into the later stages, with 12-12 on the scoreboard. With the momentum on their side, it was finally the CIS side that was able to make it to match point, but unable to close it out, Ninjas in Pyjamas took it to overtime.

Jonas "Lekr0" Olofsson got a triple on the first round of OT, but REZ and Dennis "dennis" Edman were unable to win the round as they had no kit and the bomb, planted on A, ended up going off. The Ninjas turned it around, however, winning four rounds in a row to close the map out in their favor.

NiP were able to close Inferno out to win the match

AVANGAR kicked off the second map, Train, winning five rounds straight on the CT side before Ninjas in Pyjamas could retaliate after winning a 3vs3 afterplant situation. AVANGAR stayed ahead, but the Swedes were able to string three more, making it 7-4 to put some rounds in on the attacking side. They were then able to abuse a weak economy on AVANGAR’s side, winning the last two rounds of the half to make it 6-9.

Ninjas in Pyjamas started winning the second half, taking two rounds, but AVANGAR struck back on the first buy round. With 10-10 on the board, Dzhami "Jame" Ali was able to win a 1vs1 afterplant on B to keep his team in the lead. The CIS side, with the money advantage, tried to make a break to close out the map, getting ahead 14-10, but Ninjas in Pyjamas read the attacking team’s slow rounds well, pushing it into another overtime.

The first round of overtime went to AVANGAR in a fast B play, after which Ninjas in Pyjamas struck right back, but the CIS team closed the half out in the lead. Ninjas in Pyjamas tied it up with an A fake on the first round of the second half, but they were unable to get another one as the match was pushed to the decider.

AVANGAR lost the lead in the standings to NiP

A triple by Timur "buster" Tulepov cleared out Banana for AVANGAR to win the first round on the attacking side of Inferno, and they were then able to win against a forcebuy and an eco to make it 3-0. Ninjas in Pyjamas won the fourth, but a B explosion by the CIS side kept them in the lead early on. The match then evened out 6-6, as both teams adjusted their game, although it was finally Ninjas in Pyjamas that took the last round to make it 8-7.

Ninjas in Pyjamas kept their lead winning the second pistol round, and held their lead throughout the half despite losing a couple of rounds to AVANGAR. A 1vs2 clutch by Patrik "f0rest" Lindberg got Ninjas in Pyjamas on 14-9 and broke the CIS team’s economy, which they were then able to close a few rounds later to win the map and match.

Ninjas in Pyjamas would be guaranteed the fourth ECS Finals spot as long as they participate in week 5 and AVANGAR don't, as they will have accrued enough prize money to remain first on the standings even with a last-place finish.

According to James Bardolph, Ninjas in Pyjamas will be at the ECS Finals, an indicator that they are likely to participate in week 5, though this has not yet been officially confirmed by FACEIT.

Avangar aren't playing next week, they've played 3 weeks already NiP are qualified because they're playing next week

They're apparently confirmed to NOT be playing next week. This was said constantly by the casters, NiP are planned to be there.

According to James Bardolph, NiP are through to the ECS Finals, so this is an indicator that they are likely to participate in week 5, though this has not yet been officially confirmed by FACEIT. But what's the point if they have already qualified?

8 teams are in each week and the only way NiP are 100% going through to ECS Finals is if they get any amount of money more. Just by participating in a week you get 750$, therefore if NiP play next week they're in regardless of their results.

Ez money, they can lose their first game 2-0 and make £150 each for literally zero effort.

They only advance to finals if they attend ECS Season 7 Week 5. Dennis already posted saying : see you in london. That means they're going to W5

We need to respect Avangar they played really well in the last games. I think they can be a good attender to upset teams in the future tournaments

So just the first three weeks give a direct spot to the finals, and the other spot is based on a money leaderboard. Not a fan of this system

Me neither to last week is basically useless they only play for 12k$ Should either be 3 Weeks than the one with the most prize money or 6 weeks and the two with the most prize money, then increase the finals to 16

They may not. They have participated in every single one so far. You may not participate in more than 4 if I have understood it correctly.

So your way to prove to me that you can play 5 weeks and not merely 4 is to say that some teams have played 4(!) weeks and some less? When it is whether or not you are allowed to play 5 weeks we are talking about. Come on man... You are right in that I do not have a written source to give you. My source is that I heard it from the commentators on the stream I was watching of NIP-Avangar. Furthermore, Bardolph also said that NIP are guaranteed through. From that statement we can conclude a few things. 1. NIP will play next week since just by participating they will gain at least 750$ which makes them 12750$ above Optic meaning that even if Optic win and NIP loose all NIP will be ahead of Optic. (and all else for that matter) 2. And this is the important one. If NIP is guaranteed through, which they are according to Bardolph, It results in another thing. The other team that money wise could have beaten NIP is of course Avangar, but according to Bardolph there is no way they could get past. It means one thing and one thing only. Avangar are not playing next week. Otherwise NIP would obviously not be guaranteed through because Avangar would be able to get past NIP. 3. Ok, so now we have logically concluded that Avangar is not playing. Tell me, what do you think is the reason as to why they are not playing? They do not have anything scheduled during next week so the only plausible reason as to why they are not playing is simply that they are not allowed due to having played too many weeks. That's my proof. Do you understand now?
