Last ECS S7 Finals EU spot undetermined as AVANGAR replace forZe in week 5 bracket

The race for the fourth European qualifying spot for the ECS Season 7 Finals is back on as AVANGAR will take part in the week five tournament, FACEIT has announced.

The Kazakhstani side jumped into the fray after FORZE decided to skip the tournament to shift their focus to preparing for their other commitments as they would no longer be able to qualify for the LAN event, with the fourth regional spot going to the team with the most prize money earned over the course of the season.

This means that Ninjas in Pyjamas - who were initially through to the LAN stages - are not yet guaranteed a spot at the main event and will be involved in a two-horse race with AVANGAR for the ticket to London.

AVANGAR can still qualify for the ECS Season 7 Finals

FACEIT reseeded the teams following these changes, pitting AVANGAR against MOUZ in the first round, while Ninjas in Pyjamas, who were supposed to take on FORZE, will go up against OpTic.

Ninjas in Pyjamas currently have a $4,500 advantage over AVANGAR in the money leaderboard. This means that, for the CIS team to claim the final European qualifying spot, they will have to go all the way in week five and claim the top prize of $12,000.

ECS Season goes 5 weeks. There are 3 contenders for spot in those weeks: (1) 8 teams from previous season. (2) 8 teams from Pinnacle Cup (qualifier) (3) 2 last teams from previous season in 9-10th spot. (1) Form Starting teams, while (2) + (3) form Challenger teams. Each week starts from all Starting teams getting invited. If they refuse to play current week, they will be replaced by Challenger teams. But there are only 4 spots in finals for Europe, and 3 first were taken by winners of 3 first weeks, that why weeks 4 and 5 don't give their winners spot, they only give money. But at the end, team that has the most money, will take 4th spot. If Avangar wouldn't play week 5, NiP would have already been qualified, meaning that week 5 is just for money and not that interesting to watch. Because other teams skipped too much, Avangar managed to play all 5 weeks, and made semis on 1-3th and finals on 4th, thus taking huge amount of money. So, in week 5 if Avangar manage to win the whole week, they will take the 4th spot, but if they don't get to the finals, they automatically lose. While NiP wins if Avangar doesn't win the event, even if themselves take last place at this week. Organisers even reseeded it so that Avangar and NiP will probably meet in the finals again, btw im interested in this match, they had like almost perfect 50/50 match at the last week, but NiP won and thats sad for Avg.
