Gratisfaction set to return at DreamHack Masters Dallas

Owen "⁠smooya⁠" Butterfield has announced that his time as a stand-in with Renegades has come to an end and that Sean "⁠Gratisfaction⁠" Kaiwai will return to the starting roster at DreamHack Masters Dallas.

Gratisfaction revealed to HLTV.org at IEM Sydney that he was having paperwork issues, and that smooya would be standing in for the team. It was expected that the British APWer would play through DreamHack Masters Dallas, but it now appears that the New Zealander will be back in action in Texas.

Gratisfaction will return after being on the sidelines for nearly a month

Renegades peaked at #5 in the rankings following a quarter-final finish at the Major and a semi-final run at StarSeries i-League Season 7 with Gratisfaction, but have since dipped back down to #10, unable to perform as well without their full roster.

Originally thought to miss the event because of the aforementioned visa issues, Gratisfaction is due to return on May 28 when Renegades face G2 in their DreamHack Masters Dallas opening match.

With the Gratisfaction's homecoming, Renegades will be back to their full lineup:

tbf, Denis is a good temporarily stand-in for nex considering nex stepped down because of his wrist issues. If BIG would/is replacing nex permanently, I'd have rather signed an AWPer, like syrsoN since BIG seems to be willing to poach from Sprout

exactly my thoughts! its a shame tabsen is wasted on the awp. i hope gob b picks it up. i just dont think that move was temporary, considering sprout has already signed kito. BIG denis is a permanent thing i guess

They should go with something like Spidii/DuDe- IGL Syrson - awper Tabsen- Rifle Faven - Rifle Mirbit - Support I know Spidii is new to the IGL role, but he’s reads and strats aren’t that bad tbh. This is also best German lineup in my opinion with Xantares. Gob B has had way too many chances to make something great; the analyst call him a mastermind when he hasn’t even won a trophy yet...? Another mention would be Mantuu because he’s a hybrid, but I like the lineup I created. (Chemistry is prob better too)

i dont like spidii and dude is only used to t4 teams syrson tabsen faven mirbit looks solid tho i'd add tizian to that roster, i know he gets a lot of shit but i think he'S insanely impact- and useful, and then let tabseN IGL. tabsen is learning IGLing from gob b and its said that when gob retires, tabsen takes IGL duties anyway. i also think it wouldnt affect his rifling capabilities very much. gob b has really good understanding of the game imo but his IGL style is easily readable and does not work nowadays. with smooya they had one player out of this too structured igl style, so they were less readable and played a bit faster. that worked pretty well in combination imo

I agree with everything you said tbh! I did not know Tabsen was learning IGL role, I hope he doesn’t learn the exact IGL way from Gob B tho. Another option would be if Denis would IGL again, he wasn’t that bad at igling I think, especially if he had this lineup. Btw, nice to see smart, friendly, German(s) on HLTV rather than toxic f5 big clan fanboys. Nice to see not everyone is like that

yeah letting denis IGL could be worth a try, i think he IGLed at the end of his mousesports-carreer too. i love BIG but what they're doing right now just does not make sense to me. yeah nice to have a civilized discussion on hltv for once

I think Renegades is paying BIG for smooya and BIG is still playing smooya cuz of the contract.

Rng stopped now standin is over, BIG still obligated to pay smooya until end of his contract or another org is willing to pay what they want as a buyout. Its shitty of big benching a player and probably declining offers of other orgs to buy him and then just hoping to recoup some money by loaning him out in the mean time
