Astralis eliminate NiP at ECS S7 Finals

In the ECS Season 7 Finals group A elimination match Astralis secured a dominant win over Ninjas in Pyjamas, 2-0 (16-5 Inferno, 16-6 Overpass), to move on to the decider game against FURIA.

Lukas "gla1ve" Rossander powered Astralis to an early lead on the CT side of their map pick, Inferno, with the Danish side comfortably going up 6-0. Ninjas in Pyjamas managed to get onto the A bombsite in the following round and get on the board, however, no momentum was built as gla1ve shut down Jonas "Lekr0" Olofsson's 1v3 attempt, getting his team back in control.

After the score was 9-1, Ninjas in Pyjamas lost the opening picks in back-to-back rounds, but still managed to win the rounds with sharp entries onto the B bombsite. That broke Astralis' economy and allowed the Swedes to get five rounds on the T side.

Following the switch, Ninjas in Pyjamas wasn't able to secure the all-important pistol round as their mid push was denied, and their first round buy was also promptly swept aside with Astralis barreling onto the B bombsite. Being 14-5 up, the Danish team didn't waste time and convincingly concluded the map, 16-5.

Astralis will play a rematch against FURIA for a place in the playoffs

Ninjas in Pyjamas had another slow start on Overpass, 0-5, this time starting on the CT side though, but finally got in the game after Patrik "f0rest" Lindberg and Lekr0 slowed down a B rush. Astralis extended their lead further by dominating the early-round, but Fredrik "REZ" Sterner kept his team in the game with some important frags in the bathroom area.

The Swedes were set to end the half with seven rounds as Astralis was on a low buy, but Emil "Magisk" Reif begged to differ and took down three with the Deagle on the B entry. Astralis built on that with their fourth pistol round win of the series and played a safe anti-eco to go 11-6 up. In the first rifle round, Christopher "GeT_RiGhT" Alesund and co. opted for an A execute in a 4v4, but got completely locked out.

The rest of the Terrorist side from Ninjas in Pyjamas looked similarly uninspired and Astralis closing out the game 16-6, without a single bomb plant going down after the pistol.

I really hate what so many teams are doing lately by making their star players igl like valde in North and niko in faze but atleast those teams are making an effort to either get an igl like faze did with neo or lightening the load of the igl whereas NiP are just wasting Lekr0s potential who I believe could be one Swedens best player with the problem just being he hasn't had the chance to be a star player like Rez OR Nawwk.

Okay, let me just say I don't believe in Lekr0 at all, not as a star player either. His calls are so incredibly basic so they can't be taking too much focus from his own game. I don't think he fits in NiP at all

I'm not saying he's a good igl and I can agree that he's been pretty shit lately I just think that lekr0 is someone who is much more passive and isn't very assertive, we saw that back when he was IN Godsent with pronax and twist he was probably the best player on the team. I think what nip really needs is a good igl and I'd remove get_right or as you said lekr0 I just think that he'd be much better with an actual igl.

As you say he was putting up completely different numbers in fnatic while playing under Golden, but I don't think he's in that form anymore. Yeah NiP really needs a real IGL and AWP but since this really isn't working I wanna blow the lineup up more than just removing one player.

It also doesn't help that since the major he's been very iffy with actually being able to play like when he went on a break and at dreamhack dallas where pita had to stand in for him.

I love NiP and they have cool players with great personality. But I honestly find better game sense and tactics in basic fucking MM-games sometimes. They throw nades for no reason, make rotations that are insanely easy to read and they are really bad at refragging. Aimwise they can challenge any team but their decision making is almost always insanely bad. Other teams are simply on a whole different level. That's why they'll never go all the way in a big tournament.
