chrisJ stars as mousesports outclass FaZe to secure semi-final spot

MOUZ secured the top spot in Group B at the ESL Pro League Season 9 Finals following a convincing 2-0 win over FaZe.

A flying start from MOUZ on Train saw Finn "⁠karrigan⁠" Andersen's side cruise to a 9-2 lead on the Terrorist side, with Chris "⁠chrisJ⁠" de Jong leading the charge for his team with the SG 553. Things were starting to look ugly for FaZe, but Filip "⁠NEO⁠" Kubski's charges tightened up their defence in the final stages of the half to cut the deficit to just three rounds.

FaZe kept the momentum going and dismantled the mouz defence during the opening stages of the second half, bringing the scoreline to 11-9. With the pressure starting to mount, MOUZ went for a double AWP setup, a strategy that paid off immediately. They held FaZe's offense at bay to pick up a 16-12 victory, with chrisJ ending the map with 36 frags and a +23 KDD.

Next up was Vertigo, a pick meant to be a curve ball thrown at MOUZ, who still had not played the map in an official match. FaZe came out the brighter of the two sides, picking up a 4-1 lead, but then they struggled to find breaches in mouz's defence.

karrigan's side kept their defense very compact and stormed to a 9-4 lead before FaZe secured the final two rounds of the half - the second of which thanks to a 1v4 clutch by Ladislav "⁠GuardiaN⁠" Kovács.

MOUZ meant business from the get-go and began a dominant run with a flawless pistol round on the Terrorist side. FaZe still attempted a response and won two rounds in a row, but a stunning quad kill by chrisJ put MOUZ on series point, with the team putting the game to bed in the next round.
