FURIA extend contracts of entire team

FURIA's CS:GO players have signed five-year contract extensions with the organisation, it has been announced.

FURIA moved to quell speculation about the future of the team after "two of our CS:GO players received an offer from another organisation", according to an earlier tweet from the ECS Season 7 runners-up.

Yuri "yuurih" Santos and Kaike "KSCERATO" Cerato are both regarded as the hottest prospects in Brazil, with the latter having even been on MIBR's wishlist before João "felps" Vasconcellos was signed.

FURIA's players have penned new deals with the organisation

But in a recent interview with Mais Esports, MIBR manager Ricardo "dead" Sinigaglia stated his belief that, if the team had to make a move, yuurih would now be higher than KSCERATO on the list of priorities.

FURIA recently soared to No.5 in the world - their highest-ever ranking - after an impressive month that saw them reach the semi-finals at DreamHack Masters Dallas and the grand final at the ECS Season 7 Finals.

The Brazilian team, who crashed out of Moche XL Esports last weekend after just one match, will return to action in less than two weeks, at ESL One Cologne, before the Americas Minor, in Berlin.

awful to hear, never sign more than like 2 years, and that's still probably too long... legit just limiting your opportunities... especially if you're a young player

You're actually right, I was thinking 14 - 18 but they formed in 13 before going to VP. That said, their success greatly tapered off at about 3 1/2 years. They are essentially the only lineup that was that consistent with their roster.

and you think the players were fucked by that? you know a team can't just throw out a player with a contract, right? it works both ways. the only ones who lost from that was the org

no, it wasn't the reason; what I meant was that the decision was so dumb and in VP the contracts didn't do anything as 2 years later the team started to collapse

no they didn't. the only way this can go bad for the players is if they become very successful and have to play for less money than they might be able to. by far the most likely option is that they can just chill for a while and get paid well for playing mediocre cs.

If it's indeed the case that they'll drop off and consistently play at a mediocre level for five years, it will still fuck over some of their players who are already qualified to play for MIBR. An org that pays massive salaries. Their buyouts are insane, so they won't ever be bought by a better team(except if they can get out of this contract). I don't know their exact salary, but it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if they are paid less than other teams at their level. In your situation it only pans out for them if they get back to a mediocre level, but if they stay in the top15, they'll be worse off. Seems like a horrible deal to me (you'll only be good off with a contract if you fail at your job, but not enough to get benched).

a couple of points. it's not neccessary for another team to pay the buyout to buy a player with a contract if you get benched, you will still be paid

I was thinking the same thing but with cs:go the difference compared to the other versions of CS is that csgo has micro transactions. The old system was that you would release a game, keep updating it for a few years hoping more people come and buy the game then stop updating it and start developing a new series to be released in a few years. But with csgo they have found other ways to keep monetizing the game long after its release date. So unless the player base just dies by 60/70% I dont think they will work on a new series, theres no reason for them to.

Virtus.pro announce that the core CS:GO roster have all signed four year contracts with the organisation. The Russian organization has announced via a Facebook post that they will continue providing a home for the Polish roster until the end of 2020. The post suggests the renewed contracts are "the largest in the history of eSports in terms of both duration and total contract value." yea sure

Right but then they tend to kick the youngs but keep the olds. Not really helping much with "freshen up" the team. Also, they will have like one good tournament and then not so good after. Instead of grinding hard to get better, they will rush to another replacement because they think the new guy is not working. Happen all the time with SK/MIBR. felps into bolts into Stewie into Tarik, now back to taco and felps. They replace/recycle players faster than you recycle plastic bottles at home.
2019-06-22 01:42

Since we're talking about these recycles, do you think boltz performed better than felps? It might sound silly, but I think he showed up way better than felps... You're right tho. Well, if mibr ends up kicking 2 of the actual roster, there's a chance of fer being one of them...

They were winning with felps before and then they replaced him with bolts. I think they are pretty much identical for me performance-wise. The playstyles on the other hand are totally opposite. felps is aggressive entry-fragger while bolts is passive lurker or bomb side holder. With this current iteration of roster, they force felps into a passive role and I don't think it is working as it is just not his style. They make him playing bolts' role.

It is great that they signed long contracts with the whole team to show a support for the project they got and that the org believe in them, as well as closing the door for any other org (MIBR) but 5 years is an extremely long time. What have happend to Sixer, Pronax, S1mple, Astralis and others in 5 years? They close too many doors and this might be extremely cost ly even though I understand that this is a smart idea from the org

5 years could turn around and bite the org in the butt. If for some reason, the players stop performing at a high level, the org will be stuck with mediocre players at a high contract and if they bench them, they still have to pay their salaries until that 5th year ends. Hopefully this isn't the case. I wish the players and the org the best. Hope everything works out for them.

People laugh at them like it stupid but you basically guarantee yourself wealthiness for 5 years straight when you don’t have you care about earning money It’s fucking amazing and smart by Furia players if you ask me. And it’s kinda stupid of their org to make such an offer in the first place. In 5 years everything might and will probably change but Furia org will be still obliged to pay salaries to their players who may become irrelevant tier5 players or csgo can die in general

yes because all they care about is money, great 3rd world logic, they are young players, their careers are dead at this point if things will not work out, pretty sure there will be conflicts within 1-2 years, and they signed 5 year contract lmao

Ok,this might sound completely nuts to you but some people don't care only about the money. Even if they do only care about the money it still isn't a good move. Let's say that in the future they improve greatly and could be playing in better orgs for better salaries. Why would they limit themselves to furia for FIVE years?

Yeah and what if they deteriorate drastically in the future? If they didn’t sign theses contracts, in 5 years they might be cleaning toilets or something like that. There are 2 points of view. And earning money on consistent base is the best choice here if you ask me

Weve seen one or two good performances from Furia... weve also seen complete failures (or are we just overhyping them cos of the good performances?). They have some really talented youngsters. I feel like this is a very bad desicion for them. Their buyout will be off the charts as Furia knows mibr will want one of them soon enough (with their results...).

Maybe there is a clause in their contracts for bonus money for winning certain events, specially majors. 5 years is no doubt too long for esports but this could go bad either way for the org or the players. I wish both the best and hopefully they are successful within the contract. It's just that we saw what happened with VP and think it will happen to other orgs. Maybe it'll be different for Furia.

So much hate on a 5y contract.. in brazil there are loads of people which are not financial stabile, now they get an offer to be stabile for the next few years. I see it as a win for themselves because they created that stability, ofcourse there might be players who could have had better offer but also worse offers if they drop off. They players chose the safe way instead of the risky way when they signed that contract
