ESEA MDL Season 31 North America FinalsFURIA overpower Singularity to earn ESL Pro League spot
FURIA beat Singularity in two close maps (16-11 on Train and 16-14 on Nuke) to secure themselves a spot in the 10th season of ESL Pro League.
The Brazilian team started out their CT-side strongly on Singularity's map pick, Train, with three quick kills from Vinicius "VINI" Figueiredo to secure the first pistol round. He continued into the second round with a four kill spray down, effectively shutting down Singularity's attempt at a B site hit and securing a 2-0 lead for FURIA, who were fielding coach Nicholas "guerri" Nogueira as a stand-in.
With rifles finally in play for the T-side, Singularity answered back with two rounds of their own and tied up the game 2-2 thanks to quick frags from both Ricky "floppy" Kemery and Cameron "cam" Kern. Singularity were then able to capitalize off of their two successful site takes and secured themselves a 4-2 lead before FURIA was finally able to recover. They answered back with three consecutive rounds of their own, and managed to gain the lead at 5-4. FURIA finished the half in a dominant fashion, only giving up two more rounds, resulting in a 9-6 score.
Singularity won the second pistol round with ease, Ryan "ryann" Welsh shutting down the Terrorists as they attempted to take the A site. Alan "Shakezullah" Hardeman then converted the next round with a quick MP9 spray down and ryann came in clutch during the third with a ninja defuse to tie the game 9-9. However, FURIA was able to catch them off-guard with a quick force-buy execute onto the B site which then left the game tied at 10-10. Singularity managed to win just one round after that, the aggression and quick executes from the Brazilian side proving to be too much for them to handle, resulting in a 16-11 win for FURIA, with VINI ending the map with 42 kills.
FURIA yet again started out with a pistol round victory on Nuke, losing just one player and preventing the bomb from being planted. However, Singularity answered back in the second with a quick and efficient retake from both floppy and Shakezullah. The North American side took off from there, winning five rounds in a row and gaining a 6-1 lead before FURIA was finally able to answer back. Singularity gave up just two rounds before they managed to clear their heads, and with three kills from Josh "oSee" Ohm had the reins back in their hands. From there, FURIA won only one round during the rest of the half, resulting in a score of 11-4 in favor of Singularity.
Despite their rough first half, FURIA won the second pistol round and from there managed to pick themselves up to win three rounds in a row with big plays from VINI and Yuri "yuurih" Santos. With the first real gun round underway, FURIA had seemingly managed to pull themselves back together and were now just four rounds behind. However, the rifle of Shakezullah was too much for their defense to handle and Singularity found themselves up 14-7. Just as the map seemed to be over, Andrei "arT" Piovezan and VINI came in clutch and won the eighth round for the T-side, ultimately starting their comeback.With Singularity unable to answer back and retake or hold the bombsites, FURIA won 16-14 to book a spot in the next Pro League season.
