Ancient call it quits

Ancient players have decided to split up and go their own ways following the team's disbanding.

One day after Fredrik "⁠freddieb⁠" Buö announced he would leave Ancient and look for new ventures, like playing the ECS Pinnacle Cup with Chaos, the Swedes have now announced the project's end as André "⁠BARBARR⁠" Möller stated that the players have agreed to part ways.

Ancient were unable to make it work in the long run

The Ancient project started to crumble after Nicolas "⁠Plopski⁠" Gonzalez Zamora signed by Ninjas in Pyjamas, as their motivation dipped following the young player's departure. Denis "⁠grux⁠" Gutaj was brought on to take over, but was unable to suit the team's needs. Andreas "⁠MODDII⁠" Fridh had then been added to the roster to fill the gap in the lineup, but with freddieb announcing his departure from the team yesterday, the project has come to an end.

Ancient managed to make the final of DreamHack Open Summer with Plopski still on the roster, with whom they also qualified for the StarLadder Major Europe Minor, although they were unable to go through as they ended in 7-8th place with grux in tow.

Part of BARBARR's satetment, which can be read in full here, states:

In the end, disco doplan, freddieb and draken have been playing together for a (CSGO-speaking) very, very long time. And they did great things, as a core. But when thinking of it, the time had come for them to try different paths. Sometimes you just need a change in life.

Thank you to Nico, Freddie, Affe, Wille, Doplan, Denis and Moffe for this time, you're amazing. I'll see you out there!

William "⁠draken⁠" Sundin's statement reads:

Today I decided to not continue with my friends from Ancient. We had a good run and I did believe in this project but when Plopski left for NiP something went missing.

This past year has schooled me in a lot of ways and I'm confident that I have never been better before (skillwise). I'm looking for a team anywhere, to be honest, Europe, North America, China... Hell, I will even learn fucking Danish if it helps me to get back to the top.

Ancient had the following roster at the time of dissolution:

I would understand if he wouldn’t want NiP after they backstabbed him twice. I just loved the old f0rest-GTR-REZ-draken core, would love to see something similar with a real IGL like golden or something in the last slot.

dont think they backsabbed him...more dennis. He came way earlier than he shoud and it was his place...nothing to argue in my opinion...not cool but it is what it is. At least he keept his salary for long time. I would like to see him playing in the same team as Plopski and Rez tho...it could be sick team and they are all young with a nice future. I think the quemistry between those 3 would be good too
