G2 take down Na`Vi in overtime to enter 1-0 pool

G2 have secured a spot in the 1-0 pool of teams in the New Legends Stage of the StarLadder Major following a nail-biting victory over Natus Vincere.

The Overpass clash between these two top 10 teams, separated by just two places in the world rankings, saw a blazing start from Natus Vincere, who immediately replied to a pistol round loss and began to build a comfortable lead.

Any round won by G2 was instantly countered with a round by Na`Vi, who showed no signs of slowing down. By the tenth round, Richard "⁠shox⁠" Papillon had already called three timeouts - a clear sign that he was struggling for ideas. The French side then finally managed to put together a string of rounds, but Na`Vi got back in control as the half neared its end to bring the scoreline to 10-5.

After switching over to the CT side, G2 went on a tear and held off Na`Vi in all but one of the initial six rounds of the half, bringing the scoreline to a solitary round. Na`Vi then had Danylo "⁠Zeus⁠" Teslenko to thank as the veteran in-game leader prevented an economic reset with a 1v2 clutch, setting his team up for a 14-10 lead.

G2 off to a great start to the New Legends Stage

François "⁠amanek⁠" Delaunay came to G2's rescue with a series of multi-kills over in the A site to keep the French side in the game and move to the top of the scoreboard. Na`Vi pressed on and hit match point at 15-13, but then the nerves kicked in as their indecisiveness in the final stages of regulation cost dearly and allowed G2 to make one final push and force overtime.

G2 cruised to a 3-0 half with a flawless defense to get within touching distance of victory. It looked like Na`Vi would reply in kind as they took the first two rounds of the second half in convincing fashion, but then they crumbled to a fast B execute from G2, with Audric "⁠JACKZ⁠" Jug shutting down the site with four kills.
