G2 looking to replace shox and Lucky - Report

Richard "⁠shox⁠" Papillon and Lucas "⁠Lucky⁠" Chastang could be out the door after G2 failed to make the Major playoffs, 1pv.fr has reported, with Nemanja "⁠nexa⁠" Isaković and Nemanja "⁠huNter-⁠" Kovač being two of the players approached by the Berlin-based organization.

G2 struggled to make an impact on the scene since overhauling their roster with Lucky, Audric "⁠JACKZ⁠" Jug, and later on François "⁠amanek⁠" Delaunay. Since bringing on the latter, the French team managed a year-best second-place finish at Big Events in Montpellier at the ESL Pro League Season 9 Finals, sandwiched between 5-6th place finishes at DreamHack Masters Dallas and IEM Chicago.

The StarLadder Major started out well for the French team, who moved past the New Challengers Stage with a 3-1 record and were off to a 2-1 start in the New Legends Stage, but losses to semi-finalists AVANGAR and Renegades put a halt to G2’s run and their dreams of becoming Legends for the next Major, as well as the continuity of the current roster.

Following the Major blunder, G2 would have decided to make two changes, 1pv.fr states, with Lucky and shox being the two players on the chopping block. A tweet by Antonio Meic, CR4ZY’s CEO, alerted of G2 making contact with some of his team’s players, reportedly nexa and huNter-. A move currently seems unlikely, however, as both players are still under contract with CR4ZY and the Serbian-German organization would be trying to impede their exit with a high asking price for their buyout.

Were Lucky and shox to be moved to the bench, G2's lineup would be down to the following players:

just look at great teams in any sport. the majority of the team usually play together for many many years. take the spanish team that won the euros and world cup, most of them either played in the same 2 teams for most of the career or came up together through la masia. look at barca when they were dominant the main parts of the team were playing together for many many years. look at astralis or liquad, there main 3 or 4 players have been the same for many many years.

French CS at its finest. Constant roster changes. You may lose track of who is where. They did fine at this Major so no need to change roster. Lucky is a bit of weaker link but he is OK. Stick with the roster and improve as a team. CS is a team game after all.
