NiP and Grayhound pick up wins over mousesports and Evil Geniuses

Ninjas in Pyjamas took MOUZ down in their DreamHack Masters Malmö opener on Inferno, 16-9, while Grayhound upset Evil Geniuses on Nuke, 16-10.

MOUZ went aggressive down Mid on their CT-side pistol round with both teams getting trade frags on each other before Chris "chrisJ" de Jong put the round to bed with two headshots inside the A bomb site. Robin "ropz" Kool downed three on the anti-eco, to make it 2-0. Patrik "f0rest" Lindberg found himself in a 1vs2 on A after planting the bomb, but was only able to take down one of the CTs as Finn "karrigan" Andersen went on to get the trade and defuse the bomb.

Entries by Fredrik "REZ" Sterner and Nicolas "Plopski" Gonzalez Zamora opened up the fourth round for Ninjas in Pyjamas, who planted on a 5vs3 as MOUZ retreated to save, making it 1-3. The Swedes were then able to follow it up with a successful B play. Ninjas in Pyjamas finally took the lead, 5-4, with Plopski leading the charge on the attack, and dominated the half, only giving up the last round for a 10-5 lead at the half.

Plopski was crucial to NiP’s success against mouz

Ninjas in Pyjamas kept it up on the CT side, winning the pistol round and following it up for a 12-5 lead. The Ninjas started out unrelenting on the CT side, but the tables turned as mouz started to find holes in the defense. karrigan had a big round with an ace to make it 9-14, but a forcebuy by Ninjas in Pyjamas the following round put a wrench in the comeback as the Swedes reached match point, going on to close it out the following round.

A triple by Vincent "Brehze" Cayonte during Evil Geniuses’ T-side pistol round gave the North American side the lead on Nuke. The second round went all the way down to a 2vs2 afterplant situation on B, but with little actual chance to defuse the bombsite the Grayhound players decided to save. Down 0-3, a big four-kill round by Joshua "INS" Potter in the upper site got the Australian team their round on the board. Both teams then traded rounds with Ollie "DickStacy" Tierney winning a crucial 1vs1 clutch against Tsvetelin "CeRq" Dimitrov which led to Grayhound taking the lead as Evil Geniuses struggled in the economic game. Despite a late push in the half by EG, it was Grayhound who took the lead at the half, 8-7.

Grayhound pick up their first win in Malmö against EG

Grayhound increased their lead winning the second pistol round, and started to get on a roll winning against the forcebuy, eco, and the first gun round, going up 12-7. Evil Geniuses started to get a footing on the half as both teams traded rounds back-and-forth, but were unable to stop Grayhound as they inched closer and closer to 16 rounds, eventually closing it out 16-10 to tally their first win in Malmö.
