The groups and initial matchups for the $100,000 DreamHack in Rotterdam have been announced by the tournament organizer.

DreamHack Open Rotterdam is one of the first notable international CS:GO events in the Netherlands, and will feature eight teams battling out in the tried-and-tested DreamHack Open format, with $100,000 up for grabs. The tournament will take place on October 18-20, with a mix of different-tier teams in the competition.

After their victory at BLAST, AVANGAR are the prime candidates for the trophy in Rotterdam

The highest-ranked squad is AVANGAR, but the remaining invited teams FORZE, CR4ZY, ex-DreamEaters, and HEROIC all look capable of doing some damage. Coming from the European qualifier is HAVU, while Asterion grabbed a the Benelux spot while playing with Thomas "⁠Thomas⁠" Utting and Joseph "⁠Luzuh⁠" Loose. Lastly, Beşiktaş earned their spot at the event by winning the all-women DreamHack Showdown in July.

The eight teams have been split into the following groups:

The initial matches at the event in the Netherlands will be as follows:

AVANGAR vs. Beşiktaş
FORZE vs. Asterion
ex-DreamEaters vs. HEROIC
CR4ZY vs. HAVU

DreamHack Open Rotterdam is the fourth Open tournament of the year, with three more stops to follow in 2019: Atlanta, Jönköping, and Sevilla.

Agreed. I'd say they would struggle alot even against lower t3 / t4 teams, and any teams from MDL pretty much. If they weren't, they would probably go and win the thing...

Avangar isn’t even undoubtedly the best CIS team new Navi looks really good. Also one good team doesn’t not make the event tier 3. Like cmon the best 4 teams are forze, Avangar, Cr4zy, and Heroic

It not weird at all, given the fact that the tier 1 and 2 spend 1.000s if not 10.000s of hours playing and improving their skills and the amount of women that do that is negligible. technically, they *are* represented. "There are also a lot of women gamers", true, but how many of them are actually competitive gamers? that have the necessary competitive drive it takes to strive for being the best in the world? men had compete for millions of years to prove their worth as a possible mate, it's the reason human competitions (including sport and esport) exist in the first place. and only the most competitive men reproduced, while women reproduced independent of competitiveness, and as a result today's men are *on average* way more competitive than women. and the fact that men have to compete to prove their worth as a possible mate hasn't changed, even today men compete all the time from a young age on, one way being cs:go. in the final analysis, all the pros just wanna get laid. it has nothing to do with machismo, it's how humans do things.

But there is excellent female competition in all "regular" sports, so I don't completely buy this argument. It definitely is at least partly down to the fact that the CSGO playerbase is overwhelmingly male (I don't even remember the last time I met a female player in MM, and I would guess most players would report similar things).

of course there are many more aspects, as with everything. like: (% of competitive women) * (% of competitive women that want a pc as a child) * (% of women/parents that can afford one) * (% of competitive women that play cs:go) * (...) you quickly get to a very small number. as you said, the player base is too small to have a parallel circuit like in regular sports. i just tried to explain why the first % is very small already. btw, i don't mean to be pedantic, but "excellent female competition" is stretching the word. in which sport do they actually excel when compared to men? ;P

Exactly yes, that's what I thought you meant - I disagree when you say that women in general are less competitive. And I didn't mean it like, women are better at some sports than men - it is just a biological fact that men have advantages when it comes to physical activity and I don't think anyone will dispute this. But of course women excel in sports, even if obviously you need to scale it accordingly to account for their physical disadvantages. I just don't see a reason why there would be a mental disadvantage - hence I think there is "excellent competition" in the sense of a scene that is entertaining to follow, and in which the competitors push each other to the limit and to be the best. I don't see this in the female csgo scene, but have come to the conclusion that it can't be this mental aspect because of what I wrote above. So imo it must (overwhelmingly) be down to the other reasons you already listed.

you can disagree all you want, it's an evolutionary fact that the average male is more competitive than the average female, they've literally been bred for competitiveness for millions of years. that doesn't just go away in 18k years of monogamy. so yes, one of the aspects is a mental one. take football as a reference, which is about 90% male players, and consider how easily accessable it is (no pc needed), then it should become obvious.
