blackie to stand in for Besiktas at DreamHack Open Rotterdam

Beşiktaş have announced the temporary addition of Steven "blackie" Groeneveld to their roster for DreamHack Open Rotterdam.

The 20-year-old will step into the team as a replacement for Meyssa "Missa" Bellouati, who has recently been removed from the active lineup.

blackie will momentarily join Beşiktaş for the event from Asterion, who have given the player the go-ahead to compete in Beşiktaş colours. Meanwhile, Asterion, who are also attending the event, will be fielding Thomas "Thomas" Utting and Joseph "Luzuh" Loose, the UK duo they qualified for the tournament with.

blackie will play alongside juliano and co. in Rotterdam

Beşiktaş, who earned their place at DreamHack Open Rotterdam by winning the all-women DreamHack Showdown, will kick off the Dutch event against AVANGAR in Group A on Friday at 12:00 .

The $100,000 event is set to take place from October 18-20, with Beşiktaş fielding the following roster:

Sweden Zainab "zAAz" Turkie
Sweden Julia "juliano" Kiran
Netherlands Petra "Petra" Stoker
Russia Anastasia "kr4sy" Khlobystina
Netherlands Steven "blackie" Groeneveld (stand in)

We've seen that loads of times in the past though. It's fucking huge. The last tournament I'm aware of, that female teams have played in against male opposition was Cross Border Esport 2018. 3 Female Teams managed a total of 20 rounds over 6 games. The BY FAR best result was a 7-16 loss of GD against Alternate Attax. At the CBE event the year before that, 2 teams managed 32 rounds in 6 games. Almost entirely against complete nobodies in the scene though. (The team that the juliano&zaaz team got a 9-16, 8-16 loss against, got destroyed 3-16 by North Academy and lost 0-2 against Envy Academy afterwards). The gap could've of course closed since the last time, but I don't really see any reason why it would've. Some of these girls have been playing "professional" CS for over half a decade. Why would they have improved much over the last year?

I hope not that big, at least for "top female teams". In the dreamhack showdown they played well (more or less like an mdl team?) so even if they play against Avangar in the opening I hope they get at lest 5 rounds (xd)

There is also a decent gap between Besiktas and the other Female teams. Petra gets better ratings in female tournaments then Simple in T2 tournaments.

Typical Female team. When it doesn't work out for a few weeks kick the player. That's why they will never be at the top, if a female team doesn't win the female tournament 1/2 of the teams just shuffle around players and then they complain wtf we dont get enough money like u play on a global elite level and max lvl 8 faceit lvl. 5 man lvl 10 faceit would destroy beskitas, let alone every other female team.

its not because of that. they are just much worse individually. most of female """""pro""""" players are around 9-10 faceit lvl with bad stats lul u take random faceit 3k elo pugger from master league and he will top frag in every female game

"Typical Female team. When it doesn't work out for a few weeks kick the player. Think of it this way, male gamers have to train a lot harder to get to a decent level where they can compete and actually live off CS Go. Females for the most part are more a marketing tool, to sell peripherals and merch, the companies that sponsor their orgs are still profiting off their appeal and image. They get paid better than probably most teams up to intermediate level, and even more than some "pro" teams. Just remember were part of a community that thinks girls like Juliano and zAAz are "hot", it isn't difficult for females in the current climate of the game to make money and not even have to be good at the game.

Asterion qualified with Thomas and Luzuh so blackie had actually not even earned his spot, I think it's cool of him to let those players play with the team they helped get to the tourney while he himself is standin for a team that is objectively worse. How does that kill the competitive integrity of the tournament? At least Besiktas took a standin from a team at the same level of skill as the other teams in the tournament, that's really all you can ask for

Okay you are the player. You play against the team you're contracted with. Your team owner comes to you and says lose this game or we cut you from the team. How does that not ruin the integrity of the game????

this scenario is just as likely as a team owner telling his own team to lose because he has betted money somewhere, if that happens report him or something, it literally has nothing to do with this situation. the team owner telling someone to lose is the integrity problem, not the reason behind it as it could be due any reason
2019-10-16 21:05

No it is not as likely as the owner telling his team to lose and just the possibility is the problem
2019-10-16 21:07

actually it's less likely, there's no way a single player can make a whole team lose by himself without it being suspicious. a team can throw, even throw without anyone really noticing, but a single player can at best throw a few rounds. if he does that against his own org then people will obviously notice. the "possibility" is always there, anyone can tell someone to throw for any reason, money being the most common
