Sharks qualify for ESL Pro League Finals; DETONA, Isurus through to next stage

DETONA secured themselves a 2-0 victory over Isurus for a higher seed heading into the second group stage, while Sharks took down Infinity in two maps to remain undefeated.

The final day for Group D of ESL Pro League Season 10 Americas kicked off with a bout between DETONA and Isurus. As both teams had already assured themselves a spot in the second stage with wins over Infinity and losses to Sharks, the matchup instead became a battle for the higher seed out of the group.

Isurus took two rounds on the T-side to open up their map pick of Train, but five in response from DETONA had the Brazilians up 5-2 early on. A battle for rounds towards the latter portion of the the half was won by Isurus, leaving the two teams with just one round between them as they swapped sides. Although Isurus quickly tied the scoreline with a pistol victory, a strong showing from Vinicius "vsm" Moreira and Matheus "prt" Scuvero allowed DETONA to pick up momentum on the offense and concede only two additional rounds before closing the map 16-10.

A 1.55 rating from vsm assisted DETONA in their efforts on Train

An equal trade for the first six rounds of the map kept the two teams even with three rounds apiece, with DETONA eventually pulling off three in a row to pull ahead. Again, Isurus found themselves fighting back towards the latter portions of the half, winning five of the next six rounds to edge out an 8-7 lead. Another pistol win for Isurus allowed the Argentinians to extend the gap to 11-7 before DETONA were able to reply, resulting in a battle for control between the two sides. It was André "tiburci0" Rossetto and company who emerged victorious, stabilizing at a 13-9 scoreline to win seven rounds in a row and edge out a 16-13 win.

Sharks's only goal in their final matchup against Infinity was to remain undefeated, having already qualified for the ESL Pro League Season 10 Finals following wins over Isurus and DETONA in their first two matchups.

Ignacio "meyern" Meyer helped power his team on the offense on Nuke to take nine of the first ten rounds, with Infinity finally notching their second at 9-2. An even split for the final four rounds at the end of the half had Sharks up 11-4 as they swapped to the CT-side, where four USP-S kills by meyern gave then all the momentum they needed to swiftly close the map 16-5.

Sharks have earned a spot at the finals in Odense

Two aces and an stellar performance from Mario "malbsMd" Samayoa saw Infinity continue to contest Sharks on Overpass, leading to the two teams trading the lead on multiple occasions. 24 kills in the first half for malbsMd still left Infinity trailing 7-8 at the half, a deficit which only grew as Sharks won another four rounds following a pistol victory. Multi-frag rounds from Jesus "sam_A" Taboada gave Infinity the opportunity to answer and take six of the ensuing seven, but meyern and Luca "Luken" Nadotti kept Sharks afloat as a final trio of rounds allowed them to close out the series with a 16-13 victory.
