Astralis reclaim No.1 ranking from EG following Beijing success

Astralis have dethroned Evil Geniuses to reclaim the world No.1 spot in the rankings following Monday's weekly update.

The Danish team moved back to the top of the rankings following a flawless run at IEM Beijing that saw them lift the title after beating ViCi, 100 Thieves (twice) and FaZe without dropping a single map.

Astralis added a second title to their list of recent achievements, which also includes a StarLadder Major crown, a runner-up finish at ESL One New York and a top-four place at DreamHack Masters Malmö 2019. They are now sitting on 974 points, with a comfortable 152 point cushion over of No.2 Evil Geniuses, who lost the top spot after two weeks in the wake of a group stage exit at IEM Beijing.

The North American team will have four LAN events until the end of the year, one more than the Danes. The two teams can only meet at the ECS Season 8 Finals, in Arlington, and at the ESL Pro League Season 10 Finals, in Odense.

Evil Geniuses will have the chance to make up ground on Astralis at next week's CS:GO Asia Championships, where they will be highly-favored to win the title. They will end the tournament season at EPICENTER, while Astralis will play their last tournament of the year at the BLAST Pro Series Global Final.

Monday's ranking update also sees AVANGAR move down three places to ninth, while IEM Beijing runners-up 100 Thieves climb up to sixth place and now have a team-record 521 points, just 13 points adrift of the top five.
