cs_summit 5 heads to knockout stages

The four playoffs teams in Los Angeles have been confirmed following the conclusion of the group stage, with G2 set to face off against Virtus.pro and MOUZ taking on OG.

Day three of cs_summit 5 kicked off with G2 adding another two wins to their tally, defeating Virtus.pro 16-8 on Train and 16-2 on Vertigo to end the group stage at the top of the standings with an 8-2 record. A narrow 16-14 Train win over MIBR for the Polish side in their next match gave Janusz "⁠Snax⁠" Pogorzelski and company their fourth victory, leaving G2 as the only team that they had failed to take a map off of during the group stage of the event for a 4-6 record.

Although MIBR managed to answer back against Virtus.pro by crushing them 16-3 on Inferno, back-to-back losses to OG in their ensuing matchup left the Brazilians at the bottom of the leaderboard, thereby bringing about a swift end to their debut event with Ignacio "⁠meyern⁠" Meyer as they sat firmly out of playoffs contention.

Aleksi "⁠Aleksib⁠" Virolainen's men added another pair of map wins to the OG name as they pushed their way up the standings, taking down another Brazilian squad in the form of FURIA. A narrow 16-14 victory on Overpass gave way to a more one-sided 16-7 scoreline on Inferno, ensuring a spot in the semi-finals for OG and leaving FURIA with one last chance to eek into the playoffs as they took on MOUZ to close out the night.

Stellar showings from Robin "⁠ropz⁠" Kool and David "⁠frozen⁠" Čerňanský helped MOUZ notch a 16-9 win on Mirage to kick off the bout between the two sides, with the latter player continuing to demonstrate solid form on Vertigo to crush any final vestiges of hope that FURIA may have had with a dominant 16-5 scoreline.
