Flashpoint 1 group selection: what you need to know

The 12 teams competing in Flashpoint 1 will take part in a group selection show today at 20:00 to decide the three groups for Phase 1 of the competition.

The first edition of Flashpoint will feature two group stage phases which will award points towards qualifying for the season playoffs, with each phase featuring the 12 teams split into three GSL groups.

Flashpoint is currently working with CSPPA to "explore a CSPPA-approved ranking system in the future", but will, for now, use the HLTV world ranking for seeding.

The group draw process will start with the teams being seeded 1-12. The top three seeded teams will be placed into groups A through C randomly, after which the selection part starts.

The captain of the team put in group A will then select an unassigned team and add it to their group, with the same following for groups B and C. The process continues with the most-recently-added teams selecting a new team to add to their group, until all three groups have four teams.

When that part is done, a swapping stage starts, where the teams that were last to be selected are able to propose team swaps within a group or between groups. The swaps, however, are voted on by the three highest-seeded teams using a limited number of Yay and Nay cards.

The whole process will take place live on Flashpoint 's stream at 20:00 , with an explanation of the process available below. The whole process will be repeated for the second phase of the competition when new groups will be drawn.
