Cloud9 edge past Orgless to secure Flashpoint Group C final victory

Cloud9 prevailed in the three-map Group C final against Orgless in which the decider, Dust2, went all the way to thirty rounds.

Cloud9 denied Orgless the win in the three-map Flashpoint Phase 1 Group C grand final. The majority Canadian team, who lost their opening match in Los Angeles to Dignitas and then took revenge on them in the consolidation final after a forfeit win against FunPlus Phoenix, fell just short of culminating their lower bracket run with a win against Cloud9, losing 14-16 on Dust2, the series decider.

Cloud9 were first to tally a round in the series as they won the pistol round on the CT side of Train, but it was Orgless who set the pace on the first buy with six rounds won in a row thanks to aggressive play on both sites. Finally, Ricky "floppy" Kemery and Johnny "JT" Theodosiou were able to stop the bleeding in an eco round that Matthew "WARDELL" Yu was unable to clutch to make it 3-6 . Cloud9 were then able to turn that round upset into momentum, winning three more in a row to tie it up before making it half a dozen to win the half 9-6.

After winning the second pistol round Orgless showed why Train was their map pick, taking the lead 10-9 before Cloud9 could retaliate. Pujan "FNS" Mehta and company were quick to regain the lead, but a B play by the Terrorists that FNS and WARDELL couldn’t stop marked an inflection point in the half as Cloud9 took control of the economy and ran away with the map, 16-11.

Cloud9 claim 75 points by topping Group C

It took Cloud9 six rounds on the attacking side of Inferno before they could make a dent in Orgless’ defense, giving their local rivals a chance to get back into the series. Unable to find holes in the defense, JT’s men managed to win no more than four rounds in the half.

Having won the pistol round, Orgless reached a 13-4 scoreline against a forcebuy and got within one of match point after clearing the map against a full eco. Cloud9 then turned a 3vs4 around in the first gun round to stay in the game and slowly but surely started to mount a comeback despite giving up match point. Ultimately, it proved to be too little too late, as Yassine "Subroza" Taoufik and WARDELL were able to win a 2vs2 afterplant on B to secure the map, 16-12, and keep the series going.

Orgless fell short on Dust2, the Group C final's decider, 14-16

Orgless were once again first out of the gate on Dust2, retaking a plant on the A site before taking a 3-0 lead. This time Cloud9 didn’t let the early stages of the map slip, winning the second gun round to make it 1-3 before the two teams traded rounds. The half ended up going the way of Cloud9, as Orgless were unable to find answers to the attacking team’s bomb plants.

Orgless won yet another pistol round to bring it to 5-11, kicking off the last half of the series on the right foot and putting Cloud9 against the wall early on. The majority Canadian roster, more comfortable on the attack, brought it to within one, 11-12, but were unable to hold a 3vs5 B afterplant to tie it. The two teams then went neck-and-neck late into the half, but it was finally Cloud9 who were able to close it out in the last round of regulation, 16-14.

Well, you have good games and bad games. Since jt is their igl, he shouldn't frag as much as he did. It's like boomi4 on that Nuke game dropping high numbers. Floppy probably had a bad game, although he pulled some good impact kills
